Ludo*1 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Sofien Moussa - Our marquee signing in the summer. McCann promised the fans that he'd become a cult hero. In reality, he's an absolute diddy. He can hold the ball up tbf, but we're relying on him to keep us up right now. 2/10. Glen Kamara - Came on trial and didn't impress many in the friendlies. Obviously impressed and has arguably been our best player. Broke into the Finland national team and will likely net us a bit of money when he moves on. Cracking CDM and you can easily see he's had a great footballing education at Arsenal. 9/10 Jack Hendry - Signed for nothing, became our best CH, sold and broke our transfer record 6 months later. Now broke into the Scotland squad. Not a bad 6 months for the lad. 9/10. Elliot Parish - Signed as back-up, but due to Scott Bain being piss poor and having an attitude problem, he received his chance. Played well to start with but looks nothing more than a steady eddie of a goalkeeper. I'd keep him on as back-up again though. 5/10. Josh Meekings - Doesn't look the CH he was at Caley. He didn't manage to get a pre-season under his belt though. I expect he'll become mega important for us, but prone to a howler. 7/10. Roarie Deacon - Can skin pretty much any full back in Scotland. Can't do anything other than that though. Not a very good shot and can't beat the first man for crossing. Tends to be blowing out his arse 60 mins in. He is a player that does get you off your seat though. 6/10. Lewis Spence - Average. 5/10. Randy Wolters - Fell out with McCann. Apparently on a decent wedge. Looking promising in pre-season but hasn't cut the mustard when playing. Now a permanent fixture of our U20 team. 1/10. Simon Murray - Think everyone knows what you get with Murray. Hasn't really looked better than AJLS and is probably less of a goal threat, despite creating more chances for himself. 4/10. A-Jay Leitch-Smith - Not a world beater by any stretch. Often can appear absolutely anonymous. Has delivered some important goals for us this season but he's a poor man's Paul Heffernan for me. 6/10. Scott Allan - Signed and then played on the wing by McCann, or not used at all. Now starring for Hibs after he begged to leave. It was clear to see he was our only creative outlet, but for whatever reason, barely got a chance. 3/10. Genseric Kusunga - Looks a bit suspect for me, although he's had rave reviews from our fans at times. I feel it's still too early to cast judgement. I'd be ranking him as a 5 or a 6 so far, but will put N/A. Jeremy Malherbe - Signed as back-up for Parish. Has never played for the first team but has managed to lose his spot as back-up keeper to our 19 year old keeper Callum Ferrie. N/A. Jon Aurtenexte - Very concerning past couple of performances but before that he was statistically one of the best LB's in the league. Form has dropped significantly to the point where people can understand Kevin Holt being played ahead of him. Still though, 7/10. Steven Caulker - If this was judged on performances solely, he'd be a 6. However, he's more than likely to net us a sizeable fee at the end of the season but in the unlikely event that he stays on, a pre-season would do him the world of good. 7/10.
TheCelt67 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Scott Bain - A fair bit of negativity floating around when it was announced he was being brought in on loan. Hands up, I was unsure of him myself but in his defence, he's looked reasonable enough in the four games he's played. 5/10 Jack Hendry - Supposedly 'one for the future' but thanks to a combination of injuries and our centre halves being suspect this season, he's featured a lot more than I expected. Early days and with the exception of his debut, I like what I see. 5/10 Marvin Compper - Cost £1,000,000, was here for about a week, picked up an injury in training, ruled out for a number of weeks. Played one game, hasn't featured since. 0/10 Kundai Benyu - Signed with the attention of being loaned out to further development. According to Rodgers, he'd impressed that much in training that was to be given a chance in the first team. Started twice before being loaned out in January. 2/10 Olivier Ntcham - Our big summer signing in terms of outlay. Big guy is class. One of our best players this season, perhaps even our best. Strolled through most games he's played. Physical, comfortable on the ball and with his passing. Chipped in with a few goals too. 9/10 Jonny Hayes - Arguably Aberdeen's best player last season, so came with some big expectations. Early into his Celtic career, it appeared to me that he lacked the confidence to make the step up. Barely featured for a number of games but then was given a run in the team and was showing some signs of his previous season's form. Unfortunate leg break. 3/10 Paddy Roberts - Fantastic during his original loan spell at the club, so was expected to carry on from that. Not the only one of our stand outs from last season to have a drop of form but seemed to lack the magic he'd shown in the last 18 months. Ruled out for three months thanks to a hamstring injury but it's good to see him back in the team. 5/10 Charly Musonda - Arrived surrounded by hype but with the exception of an outstanding ball to McGregor for the goal against Zenit, hasn't made that much of an impact. 2/10 Odsonne Edouard - Last minute loan signing from PSG. Brought in as cover for both Dembele and Griffiths but has been given a few opportunities in the starting line up and for the most part has impressed. A hat-trick against Motherwell and a winner at Ibrox being his highlights. 6/10 Lewis Morgan - Signed then immediately sent back to St Mirren on loan. N/A
Sherrif John Bunnell Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Sean Kelly - Signed as replacement for Kenny Van Der Weg at LB. AFC Wimbledon fans warned us that he was shite. They were right. 1/10 Jamie Lindsay - He started off looking like an excellent player. One of the many to be ruined by Diddy Coyle. Has been playing far better since Kettlewell and Ferguson took charge. I really hope we can get him on a permanent deal if we stay up. 7/10 Thomas Mikkelson - McIntyre convinced Uncle Roy to part with a hefty amount of dough to sign him. Scored an excellent goal in the 1-3 Sevco minter, but barely got a chance before being exiled to the seaside leagues by Coyle. 4/10 Jim O'Brien - Not been anywhere near as impressive as he was when he was on loan last season. Some rotten tackling and some alleged attitude issues have seen him come and go from the team. 5/10 Billy Mckay - Relegation specialist signed by McIntyre on deadline day. He took a long time to get match fit and then Coyle chose not to use him. Has formed an exciting partnership with Schalk since Coyle was punted. 6/10 Ross Draper - Uncle Roy splashed the dough again in a massive GIRUY to the long forgotten ICT. Yet another play who had his confidence shattered by Coyle. Has been playing great since Coyle went (spotting a pattern here?) 7/10 Owen Coyle - /10 Chris Eagles - EPL winner who arrived with a decent reputation and showed the odd flash of okayness. Didn't seen to fancy the physicality of Scottish football before being swiftly punted after Coyle went. 3/10 Greg Tansey - He would have been an excellent loan signing if he wasn't half-crippled. Looked very good in the few minutes of football he has managed for us. Hopefully he can play a starring role in the final five/seven matches 5/10 Inih Effiong - Coyle decided some English non-league guy without a Wikipedia page was worth an 18 month contract. Effiong enjoyed himself on Tinder, revealed his jail time in an interview with the local press, Snapchatted Gardyne's knob and joins the list of worst ever Ross County players. He is no longer employed by Ross County. 1/10 David N'Gog - Another long forgotten EPL player from way back when, but has acquitted himself well as a substitute. A good option to bring on when closing out games. 6/10 Harry Souttar - Stoke have high expectations for him and his class has shown since his debut. A much needed signing due to Davies' numerous injuries/suspensions this season. 8/10 Liam Fontaine - Another required reinforcement in defence. Looked very rusty to start with, but has played very well in the back three with Souttar and Routis in recent weeks. 6/10 Max Melbourne - Loan signing from West Brom to cover the left side of defence. A definite upgrade on Kelly and Van Der Weg. 7/10 Mattias Kait - Loan signing from Fulham with plenty of international experience for someone so young. Was playing very well before picking up a knock. Hopefully he can get back on form for the final few games. 6/10
capt_oats Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Alex Fisher - 19 games, no goals. Moves to Yeovil and has 5 in 12 league games and makes his debut against Manchester United...go figure. There was clearly a player in there but his Motherwell career seemed to be a series of sliding doors moments; passing up a chance against Rangers on the opening day of the league season, shanking a sitter in the LC against County and managing to hit Scott Bain from about 4 yards out against Dundee. Bowman struck up a partnership with Moult and from there on in Fisher was playing a bit part role. 3/10. Gael Bigirimana - Probably the biggest disappointment in terms of on the park contribution but an absolute hero off it. We're crying out for someone with a bit of composure and creativity in the centre of the park and Bigi should be that player. His goal against County in the LC was smashing. He's got a great range of passing and absolutely ran the show in the 2nd half of the 3-2 game against Thistle at Firhill however he's been a bit a of victim of the relative success of the Campbell, McHugh, Rose trio and the pairing of Campbell and McHugh with Tanner playing ahead of them. His run of starts unfortunately coincided with our poor form in December. Hopefully we can use the remaining 5 games to give him a bit of game time and see if we can actually find a way to fit him into this team. 6/10 (10/10 for contribution to #content). Craig Tanner - As I type he's currently our top scorer and also the sole creative spark in the squad. It took about half a season for Robinson to work out what to do with Tanner. Incredibly flakey to begin with you had him veering from being excellent off the bench one week then being hooked at HT after getting a start the next. However, once we settled on a 3412 with him playing off a front pairing of Main and Ciftci it started to click. What is absolutely clear is that he's not a striker. Though having said that he seems to fucking hate Dundee seeing as he's scored 4 in 4 against them. Another victim of our Thunderdome training sessions and is out for another 6 months. His goal against Thistle in our 3-2 defeat in December is hugely under-appreciated IMO. 8/10. Trevor Carson - A point marked off for the red card against St. Johnstone up in Perth in the 4-1 shitshow but other than that; f**k me..what a signing...16 clean sheets so far, an international cap to boot. After a season of Craig Samson he's been absolutely transformative. Fans Player of The Year, Players Player of the Year...there's absolutely no argument with either award. His record this season is comparable with both John Ruddy and Darren Randolph. He cost us ten grand lads...£10k. 9/10. Andy Rose - Classic 7/10 player, breaks up play, gets about the park. Has fans on message boards fuming and wanting to know "what does he do?" because he's an "empty jersey" then when he doesn't start and the midfield falls to bits it becomes clear that he actually does quite a lot. He's been an upgrade on Craig Clay. 7/10. Russell Griffiths - Clean sheet against Ross County. Went to bits in December when he had to replace Carson though. Can sit on the bench with the best of them, which in fairness is why he was signed so it's difficult to be that critical of him. 5/10. Charles Dunne - A player who, after a couple of months many supporters would probably have chased but who has really found form and come into his own in the 2nd half of the season. Ideally suited to playing on the left side of the back 3, he's absolutely rapid and defensively sound. Also gives strangers lifts home in extreme weather conditions. 7/10. Cédric Kipré - He's a fucking ICONIC. He's signed 3 contracts in one season and the latest extension to 2020 is to be roundly celebrated. Called up to the Ivory Coast squad the other month he's still only 21 and this in his first season playing first team football. Yes he's raw, yes he has a mistake in him but he also reads the game superbly, steps in to make interceptions, has a great range of passing and can carry the ball up the park at will with opposition players simply bouncing off him. He has all the attributes to play at a much higher level. 100% celebrates goals by doing back flips too. 8/10. George Newell - Currently out injured after having had his face smashed to pieces by Kari Arnason's elbow on Saturday. Signed to fit in that grey area between u20s and first team and has had 10 minutes here and there without ever actually doing much. Another in the list of players who seems to have struggled to stay fit this season. 5/10. Ellis Plummer - He's literally played 15 minutes of first team football. It's impossible to rate one way or another. I've watched him play with the u20s on a few occasions this season and he's been absolutely fine. Quick, physical and read the game well, unfortunately in the first half of the season he couldn't make a dent on the team with Dunne and Hammell preferred on the left side of the back 3. In perfect synchronisation with Hammell's retirement he managed to break his leg at our winter training camp and ruled himself out for the rest of the season. N/A. Rohan Ferguson - loaned straight back to Airdrie. N/A Deimantas Petravicius - I actually feel a bit sorry for Petey. He's a winger who has, to all intents and purposes, signed for a team who don't play with wingers. The logic behind him signing seemed to be that we could hopefully repurpose him as a striker and use his pace but it hasn't really happened. He just looks pretty lost. 3/10. Liam Grimshaw - Recency bias probably boosts Grimshaw's rating a bit as he was outstanding in the cup semi-final against Aberdeen but he's only played 717 mins of football this season, which isn't really a lot while his only other performance of note this season coincidentally came against Aberdeen in the 2-0 win up at Pittodrie. Either way his 2nd spell with us has been largely underwhelming, he's nowhere near the level of Allan Campbell and much like Bigi has struggled to get into that midfield 3 ahead of any of Campbell, McHugh, Rose, Cadden or Tanner. 6/10. Gennadios Xenodochof - signed to sit on our bench as Carson's injury in December meant we literally only had one eligible goalkeeper due to Ferguson and Peter Morrison both being out on loan to Airdrie and Clyde respectively. N/A Curtis Main - Absolute machine. Currently on 8 goals in 16 games. Stepped in and replaced Louis Moult like it wasn't even a thing. Him absolutely bodying James Tavernier in the build up to Allan Campbell's goal against Rangers is 100% a highlight of the season as was him rag-dolling Harry Cochrane into the East Stand. 9/10 Peter Hartley - Initially signed on loan, then signed permanently and became an internet sensation in the process. A leader of men and decked Dougie Imrie. He's also a goalscoring centre half who will happily Cruyff turn his way to creating goals for others as well. Would be up alongside Main and Carson on 9s but he's been out injured since December/January. 8/10. Nadir Ciftci - I absolutely love the big Turkish maniac but 1 goal in 12 appearances isn't a great return. Having said that, given the context of where we were in December with us struggling for forward options he's come in and been a part of a team that's stabilised and found it's feet again. Involved in a lot of the build up to our goals after the winter break without really offering the end product you'd probably hope for. 6/10. Tom Aldred - Peter Hartley v2.0. Does everything Hartley does minus the Imrie decking (there's still time for that though). Also encroaching on Ryan Bowman's Herbalife turf. He's been an absolutely cracking signing, chucks himself into tackles and blocks. He just seems to bloody love defending. Like a Bolton-born Chiellini. 8/10 Stephen Hendrie - Was hooked at half time against Thistle at Fir Park and had a nightmare against Aberdeen in the league game the other week. Was also chucked on against both Celtic and Rangers and was absolutely fine. Largely added to the squad to provide cover and that's what he's done so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯. 6/10.
JamieThomas Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Christophe Berra - a colossus. Scottish Premiership player of the year, imo. 10/10 Cole Stockton - already gone. Worse than standing in dog shite. 2/10 Rafal Grzelak - worse than Stockton, lasted even less time. 1/10 Kyle Lafferty - would let him shit on my carpet, no questions asked. 10/10 Michael Smith - I quite like him, I suppose. 6/10 Jon McLaughlin - comfortably the best keeper in the league, but can't wait to leave, so **** him. 7/10 Ross Callachan - a Lidl Gary Locke. 3/10 Danny Amankwaa - wouldn't recognise him if he chapped on the door asking to shit on my carpet. 3/10 Ashley Smith-Brown - your guess is as good as mine. 2/10 Connor Randall - like Michael Smith, but plays less. 5/10 Manuel "David" "Davie Boy" "Hot Sex" Milinkovic - the absolute ****ing boy. Loves Hearts, hates Hibs, swords Celtic. 12/10 Demetri Mitchell - as that **** out of Dire Straits said "the boy can play". Obviously gets injured. 8/10 Steven Naismith - nothing against him, but for the cash we're paying he should be shiting golden turds. 7/10
Austinho Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Ofir Marciano - Has the hottest wife in the league. One of our best keepers in years. A couple of mistakes recently, but very solid otherwise. 8/10 Vykintas Slivka - Scored a goal of the season contender at Ibrox. Signed from Juventus, but hasn’t lived up to the expectations that carries. Kept out of the team by our cracking Scottish midfielders. 5/10 Efe Ambrose - Tremendous. Efe/10 Deivydas Matulevicius - For his name? 10/10. For his contribution to Hibs? Well we got rid of him in January. 2/10 Cammy Bell - Decent standard for a backup keeper. 5/10 Steven Whittaker - Been injured or kept out of the team a lot of the season. Can play in a few positions so handy to have. 4/10 Danny Swanson - Has had a few personal issues and hasn’t contributed nearly as much as we’d hoped so far. 3/10 Simon Murray - Scored a bucket load to start with, including against Hearts and Rangers. Dropped off soon after and was shipped to Dundee on loan. 6/10 Anthony Stokes - Couldn’t even behave at the club he now has legendary status at. Probably thought he was untouchable. 2/10 Jamie Maclaren - Shunned the Hearts and then scored against them. What a boy. Makes clever runs, and hopefully we keep him next season. 8/10 Brandon Barker - Came from Man City, was frustrating initially, then got a bad injury just as he started to look like a world beater. 6/10 Scott Bain - Involved in the great January transfer threesome with Celtic and Dundee. Was with us for a week and didn’t play. Swapped him for Scott Allan 10/10 Florian Kamberi - There is a striker, a big a Swiss striker... Fantastic for us, good hold up play and a hat trick against Accies. Should be signed up immediately. 9/10 Faycal Rherras - Used to play for Hearts and now likes to noise them up on Twitter. That’s the only positive thing he’s done since he arrived. 2/10 Scott Allan - Can’t believe we got him because Dundee weren’t playing him. Outstanding business 10/10 Overall, a weird season for transfers at Hibs. We signed 3 strikers in the summer, let them all go in January, and replaced them with 2 new boys who’ve really set the heather alight. We signed a goalie, then let him go a week later in exchange for an attacking midfielder, and had to get another new goalie. And a Hearts reject who’s barely played for either of us. Lennon is a fantastic manager, but he’s brought in a lot of signings who’ve either been stop gaps or ineffective. He’s a wee bit fortunate Stubbs left him with such a good bunch, as they are still the core of the team. To be fair though, the balls he showed to correct his mistake when Murray and Stokes weren’t working deserves a lot of praise.
coprolite Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Mixed bag. Some utter shite and some inconsistent. All disappointing though.
Guest Bob Mahelp Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 I can't even remember who we've signed. Almost all of them leave a big meeeeeeeeh on my mind. I am though impressed with the names of many of the Dundee signings. Genseric ? AJ ? Randy ? Roarie and Sofien ? Give them all an extra point just for having porn star monikers.
Fide Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 8 hours ago, Ludo*1 said: Lewis Spence - Average. 5/10. I would disagree. He may be irritating, but he's a good dancer.
RandomGuy. Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Stefan Scougall - Signed as our "jewel" and expected to replace Swanson as the creative hub. Hasn't come close to that output and only has one goal to his name, shows flashes of absolute quality. Harsh to judge him as he's been shoved out wide and clearly isn't a winger, but he needs to be better next season. 5/10 Michael O'Halloran - Was only here for six months, and missed a chunk due to being injured against Dundee then returning against Leveins Hearts who spent the whole match targeting his injury. Was unplayable for the first five games and realistically its those results which see us safe from relegation. 8/10 Scott Tanser - This seasons Darnell Fisher. Looked absolutely brutal early on but Brian Eastons injury problems means he's been first choice for a whole now. Is growing into this level and our ability to play 3-5-2 brings out the best of him as a wing back. Best free kick taker we've had in years and his deliveries are obscene. 6/10 Denny Johnstone - Signed as a back up and that's all he'll ever be. Scored some important goals when nobody else was scoring but contributes almost nothing else. Has a decent first touch but he's genuinely the slowest player that's ever lived. 4/10 Callum Hendry - Scored some belters for the youth and had just broken into the first team when he got injured. Started against Hamilton and looked out his depth, but is a different striker to what we have and his self-confidence is usually a positive in young strikers. Looks a decent enough find. 3/10 Kyle McLean - Seems to be seen as a Chris Millar replacement. Barely played tbh. He did feature against Albion Rovers and looked more than comfortable but hasn't featured in the league outwith late sub appearances. Will be judged next season. 3/10 David McMillan - Big January signing to solve our striking woes. Absolutely deadly for Dundalk and we fought off half the league to sign him. Played twenty minutes, Cerny smashed him in the face mid-air, knocking him unconscious and he tore his hamstring as he landed as he couldn't protect himself. Injured for the rest of the season. Our season in a nutshell. N/A Matthew Willock - Signed on loan from Man U, and seems to be a reason we released Paton. Standard English youth who has all the technical abilities, but has absolutely no idea how to read the game. Tall and rangey but spends his time chasing the ball like some lost dog and seems to think he's Pogba when he's got it. He's not. 3/10 George Williams -Signed on loan from Fulham. I expected a winger, he seems to be more comfortable as a number ten. On the ball he's far and away our best player, and his link up play is incredible. He clearly has a footballing brain and picks out some delightful passes. Manager has already talked about getting him permanently. Like Scougall, needs to contribute more than decent passes though. 6/10
Guest Bob Mahelp Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Oh. Found a list, so here goes... Kari/Keri/Kori/Käri (depending on Red TV) Arnason - Came back to us as a cult hero demi-God, especially given his performances with the cult hero demi-Gods of the Icelandic national team. From the start has looked like he'd rather scrape his Viking penis with a rusty brush than be back at the Pitt o'dreams. The odd decent performance aside, he's looked lazy, lethergic, disinterested. Scared of playing on anything non-grass. Says it all that McInnes overlooked giving the captaincy on Saturday to an experienced international and instead chose a 21 year old who couldn't get a game for Ayr United 12 months ago. 2/10 Michael Devlin - Apparently we bought him so the team doctors and physios could get extra practice. Never been seen, no idea what he looks like. Played for Hamilton. 0/10 Greg Tansey- Bought as a replacement for Ryan Jack, turned out to be as effective in a Dons shirt as Michael Devlin. Offered precisely nothing to the team aside from being the man in charge of spraying corners wildly into the stands. Is apparently an arrogant f*cker off the park as well. A major mistake from Deek and shipped off to deepest, darkest Dingwall on loan, never to be seen in a red shirt again. 0/10 Nicky Maynard - There's a pattern developing here. Like Leon Mike, but without the goal(s). Is a centre-forward who apparently hasn't scored in something like 3 years for any team. A classic McInnes tombola signing, and I'm starting to laugh as I type. 1/10 Kenny McLean- Weirdly counts as signing because we sold him to Norwich in January and loaned him back precisley 30 seconds later. Ironically, the last 3 months have seen Kenny show his best form of the last 3 years, and in many games he's carried the team almost single handed. He could have sat back, but he didn't. I'm happy for him that he'll go out of Pittodrie with his head held high, having at last convinced the doubters that he's a player. We'll see him often in a Scotland shirt, of that I'm certain. 9/10 Chidi Nwakali- Man City loanee but I'm presuming old Pep has never seen him play. His speciality is blasting shots miles over the bar and passing to Motherwell players. Awful gap-filler, McInnes needs a slap for this one. 2/10 Sam Cosgrove - His debut against Celtic lasted 10 minutes when he was red-carded for going Full Metal Jacket on Scott Brown. Nothing wrong with that, but he's got a long way to go to achieve semi-ironic cult status, as it's fairly obvious to every Aberdeen fan that this guy is just a skinny, pish Jayden Stockley. Has only been thrown on the park however when the red machine has reached full-blown headless chicken mode and is on the arse- end of a humiliating defeat, so I'll maybe reserve judgement a bit. 3/10 GMS - His Dabness and Timness means he's been the allocated whipping boy for the fans for much of the season. Personally, I'm a fan, and I think that the guy puts a huge amount of effort and a fair bit of skill into almost every performance for the Dons. Inconsistency has dogged him throughout his career and it's been no different at Aberdeen. Has also struggled to replace the dynamic Jonny Hayes, but looked like he was hitting form around Xmas time before being injured/weirdly dropped by McInnes. Put in the performance of the season in ripping Hibs apart in December. 7/10 Dominic Ball - A one man reason for McInnes being forced out of Pittodrie. I refuse to waste any more time typing. 0/10 Stevie May- Ho hum. It's becoming a growing issue as to why we spent £400k on a player who looks like he'll never recover both full fitness, and his form of a few years back. He tries hard, runs around a lot, but since September has contributed virtually nothing to the team. A pathetic contribution of 3 goals (2 in one game) has played a huge part in our struggles this season. Missed a sitter on Saturday. Maybe he needs a rest and full pre-season, who knows ? McInnes is sticking with him more through desperation than anything else I suspect. 3/10 Freddie Woodman - Arrived at Pittodrie to cover for Joe Lewis's injury and because McInnes bizarrely has no faith in Danny Rogers. Comes with a big reputation and has looked fine every time I've seen him. Had a blinder in the penalty shoot-out against Killie, which I now wish we'd lost. Maybe a bit unlucky not to still be in the first XI given Lewis's rather poor season. 8/10 Ryan Christie - A curate's egg of a season. Has tons of skill and ability, but now looks weary and has been guilty of trying too hard and to do too much. His skinny young shoulders are not designed to carry a whole team. Will disappear back to Celtic in the summer, and I wish him well wherever his career takes him. 6/10 Niall McGinn - Back home after not playing football for 4 months, and instantly looked lean, mean, sharp and ready to rumble. 3 months of playing in a red shirt and weirdly he's now back to looking like a stumbling jaky who is unfit and over-weight. Carrying an injury which his why he didn't start on Saturday, but you can't blame Niall for not being true to form as he's been utterly anonymous in every game against the OF and/or any semi-final, just as he has been since he first arrived here 5 years ago. 4/10 Greg Stewart - One step forward, one step back. Has a decent game, has a shite game. Has skill, but as much pace as my mum towing a caravan. We've used him in about 6 different positions, none of them I suspect a position where he plays his natural game. I feel sorry for him, really I do, as I think there's a player there which some team will use properly. 5/10 Overall, it's a pretty sad story and one which sums out a disappointing season. McInnes is capable of finding some diamonds.....Logan, Rooney, Lewis, McLean etc....but this has been a season of signing turds I'm afraid. Some thing which he must know himself. No way he'll be sacked, so he'll get another go at it this summer when we need a massive and complete squad re-build. He has to get it right, or it'll be his last.
Radford Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Stefan Scougall (4/10) - Was maybe always going to take time to adapt to both Premiership football and playing a full game every week but it's been slow going for the former Livingston man. Signed to replace the contribution to the goals for column of Danny Swanson, he hasn't managed it, scoring just once. Season was ended in the early days of February. Scott Tanser (6/10) - Signed after a prolonged trial, left back wasn't an area Saints had been expecting to strengthen in the summer but their hand was forced by the departure of Tam Scobbie to United. A slow and unconvincing start but when Brian Easton was injured in October, Tanser got his chance and has steadily developed and grown into his role in the side. Decent delivery and willingness to get forward but has lacked a bit of aggression at times. Callum Hendry (2/10) - One signed with the future in mind, he's a had a decent debut season but another player struck down by long-term injury just as he'd managed to put himself in the frame for first team involvement. Is going to need to hit the ground running next season if he's kept on as he turns 21 in December. Kyle McClean (2/10) - Similar thinking to the Hendry signing and like the striker, has got himself to the fringes of the first team. Will be looking to get a start post-split and will need to show Tommy Wright that he has it in him to be trusted from the start in games next season. Denny Johnstone (3/10) - Don't imagine he topped Tommy Wright's list of signing targets and has never really threatened to displace more established players from the team. Offered nothing up until Xmas, when he had a little purple patch. Has offered slightly more since the winter break but not enough to see his loan deal made permanent you'd expect. Michael O'Halloran (7/10) - Brilliant early impact upon his return but became a target for opposition teams and struggled with knocks for much of the late autumn. Started to find his form again in December after which Rangers decided to inexplicably recall him, only to never involve him. A richer man but one that has largely wasted the past 2 years. David McMillan (n/a) - Unfair to hand a rating to the Irishman signed in January. A great scoring record in Ireland but was on the wrong end of a brutal challenge from Tomas Cerny on his debut and has yet to play again. Hopes remain high for him though. George Williams (5/10) - Troubled by injury in recent times, he was never going to hit the ground running. Has looked lively at times but without an abundance of end product. Could offer something to the club moving forward but finances will likely dictate. Matty Willock (2/10) - Looked good on his debut at Tynecastle but has struggled to adapt to the pace of game up here. Will be interesting to see where he goes after his inevitable release from Man United. It won't be back to Saints.
Radford Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 If I'd seen the post from @RandomGuy. before I started I could have saved myself 15 minutes. Worrying how much I agree with him on this occasion, once you remove the hyperbole.
tree house tam Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Think its harsh to rate Scougall on half a season out wide with a couple of games (which he's looked decent in) in his preferred position. I blame Tommy for that. If we're being honest Scougall and McMillan are the 2 players he really wanted and if he could get 3 or 4 more of that quality we'd be laughing all the way to the top 6.
Radford Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Scougall must be sitting in the stands watching the role that Williams is playing and just wondering why! I still think and hope he can be a good player for us, just in time to leave for Hearts or Hibs next summer...

oneteaminglasgow Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Niall Keown: signed on the back of his loan spell during which he was excellent, but hasn’t been so this time around. Not being Danny Devine means he’s an important player, but he’s been average at best. 4/10Miles Storey: he’s quick and direct, but he’s bad at football. Two (admittedly important) goals hasn’t been a great return, though he’s looked alright on the wing. 3/10Blair Spittal: he’s been alright in spells, but he’s a wee sand dancing shitebag coward p***k. Has a tendency to come off the bench and proceed to show exactly why he didn’t start by doing nothing at all. 3/10Milan Ntriansky: Another Archie classic of signing who barely plays and leaves a few months later. I can’t remember if he was any good or not. 1/10Paul McGinn: Difficult one, he’s clearly a decent player but he really doesn’t fit into how we want to play and has looked shaky at times. Still, he’s been fine for the most part. 4/10Conor Sammon (loan): best signing of the season. I feared the worst when we signed him, but he’s been excellent. Even before he went and a good run of scoring he was causing problems for defences and making us generally less shit. We’d be even more fucked without him. 8/10Jordan Turnbull (loan): solid and unspectacular, was disappointed when he was recalled from his loan, but I think we’ve got a better player in Bailly Cargill. He did his job well enough. 6/10Bailly Cargill: an upgrade on Turnbull for me, he looks relatively composed on the ball, and decent at the back. I can’t think of him having any shockers, although I’m sure there will have been one. 7/10Martin Woods: looks decent, good set pieces but I’m not sure if him looking good is more down to how horrific our midfield was before he arrived. Clearly has his limitations but has been good enough. 5/10Jamie Sneddon: signed for the future, hasn’t played as far as I know. N/A

7/10 Hearts must be having some season with 3 10/10 players.

Robinson's stuff about researching players' personality as well as everything else could have been bullshit but I think has been totally vindicated as we have guys that have been here a matter of weeks that feel like they've been around for seasons given the way that they have blended in. Can't argue with any of the ratings - only in the case of Dunne, if we were to ignore his first 2 months of the season as he returned from injury, he'd be closer to a "9" for me (and I would have then added a further 1 for his "car driving" celebration after McHugh's goal in the cup )
