diegomarahenry
Playing far too narrow, the match preview had O’Conner and Hewitt out yet we only have 4 players on the bench. No Bradley or McKenzie. huge gap between the defence and forwards. Thistle are being allowed to force us in to playing a back 6, leaving Murdoch and Chalmers in midfield. No out ball for defence and far too narrow. Big changes in the second half needed.

Is that Jamie Garrett? watching the stream online for the game I have a feeling we should have just kept Duffy as caretaker for a few extra games just to see how he did against teams placed higher up, this has been pretty woeful so far

Hursty
Duffy out then ? Peter Murphy getting a respectable point at Kelty as it stands..... I'm obviously joking but does seem mental announcing the permanent appointment before a very predictable pumping today.

With the players in the match day squad, it’s hard to see a different line up, we could take off a defender and bring on Salkeld. Swap Moffat for Afolabi at some point. Maxell for Chalmers.

Just the timing that's strange as Duffy could easily start his 'permanent' spell with 3 or 4 games without winning.

As well as a central defender at right back, which makes it even more defensive. It was a pathetic line up, with an entirely predictable result.
HMIP
Changing the shape of the team hasn’t worked. We looked miles better with a back 4. Reading has probably been our best player of late overlapping with either O’Connor or Maxwell, but now looks a bit lost as a wing back. Huge dose of reality for us all round - the board have gambled that we can stay up with what we’ve got and gone with what is surely a stop gap appointment who is only really being asked to be a steady hand on the tiller. In reality I think we’ll need some strong recruitment in January.
diegomarahenry
Oh for f**k sake. this is up there with Hopkins Arbroath result in terms of performance. Graham just ran, surrounded by 6 Ayr players, no tackles and managed to score. Biggest defeat of the season was 2-0 before today.
No_Problemo
David Smith, please appoint someone so you don’t have to make a footballing decision ever again.
UpInTheAyr
Need to concentrate on getting points from the teams in the bottom half of the table. That's our level.
diegomarahenry
McCallister, Chalmers and Afolabi are not good enough. Fjortoft and McGinty are barely good enough. we knew we’d toil once we played better organised teams that would counter all our shortcomings and that happened today in style. need to get improvements lined up for January
HMIP
I think Smith will do good things for us off the park with infrastructure etc, but you have to be honest and say we’ve been an utter shambles on the park since he took over. 3 managers in 9 months with a 4th probably required by next summer at the latest. Total short term thinking all the way really. At our level, a director of football type role seems like an extravagance, but Smith badly needs some help on the football side of things - I presume he’s a busy guy outside football as well which probably doesn’t help.
UpInTheAyr
Brett "Shooter" McGavin just scored a 92nd minute for King's Lynn. Bring him home.

I don’t think a lot of today can be blamed on the appointment of Duffy to be honest. A big part of recent weeks has been O’Conner, we were missing Bradley as well which meant either Moffat or Salkeld coming in. I think everyone would agree that Moffat should have started today. like the Raith game, under pressure we sit too deep and the defenders in midfield drop back meaning we invite pressure. the lack of changes in the first half can be put down to Duffy. I don’t understand why Maxwell doesn’t start and Mcallister isn’t a Championship wingback.

He didn’t need to beat any of them.

Not blaming the appointment of Duffy as such, though he did change the shape of the team today and we went from looking solid enough defensively in recent games to being an utter shambles - think he needs to take responsibility for that. My point was more about general short termism. Hopkin has left a mess and we need to set about fixing that - not sure how we begin to do that when there is no commitment to Duffy beyond next May.

Biggest worry for me today is actually the Dunfermline result- Peter Grant surely won't survive that and its a big 3 points for QoS. Bottom 3 will almost certainly be between Ayr QoS and Morton - thankfully Arbroath with main men missing got a late equaliser at Cappielow.
