The reality of the guy we ended up with was someone slow, ponderous and who's set pieces and general passing were absolutely shocking for a Professional Footballer, especially one who was supposedly a "ball player", "set piece specialist". The biggest thing for me is that for a team so short in Midfielders, he actually wasn't missed when not playing and was probably missed more when he was !!! Man was so rigid for a baller, needs some yoga.

Isn’t he out for the rest of the season? Be a bit unusual for him to leave if he can’t play for anyone else.

I can understand why a team would give Chalmers a go but paying a fee/compo is wild. I suspect the same won't happen with McGinty, we'd need to pay the buying club. Maybe it was us that paid Dunfermline the "compensation"

The crazy thing is that I remembered him being pretty decent when at Inverness and County but God knows what happened to that guy as we certainly didn't see him.

AyrExile
Chalmers has been pish for us but so have many others in recent times that have went on to prosper elsewhere. Perhaps his GPS stats secured an early release from us. If nobody else comes in then i would rather he had stayed as woefully short in midfield. However its one of the highest wages off the bill and will give us more transfer options. Whilst time is ticking i still expect a few deals to happens as it would be a large own goal hiring a recruitment specialist that can't find players. Whilst technically he is still new to the job the contacts and knowledge built over the years can be used straight away
Frosty
Sounds like it based on Dunfermline's tweet "after a suitable compensation agreement was reached between the clubs". Unless we've paid them to take him off our hands [emoji1787]Could just as easily be that we’ve been marketing him out to get him off our books because Bullen doesn’t rate him or we need him away to free up a wage and have agreed to give him a Fee to agree to move or have paid Dunfermline a Fee towards his wages if there’s a difference between what he was on with us and what the Pars will pay him.Who knows but good that he’s off our books and we’ve got the chance to bring in someone who’s a better fit for what we need.

ryanayr1987
Really wanted chalmers to be a success for us, I remember thinking the day he signed what a coup it was. How wrong was I? Disappointing

Aye I'm pretty sure we're not paying another club to take one of our players.
UpInTheAyr
Outstanding piece of business by the club. Couldn't care less if he rips it up there he was pish for us for too long. Can't imagine he will contribute much to a team in a similar position to us. McGinty next please....

It's been a letdown though, no doubt.
yorkshirepud
Outstanding piece of business to move on a player who is unlikely to play, freeing up a big chunk of wages and bringing in a fee, however small. Hopefully that gives us a big enough pot for a couple of midfielders and another striker, with the added bonus of maybe binning McGinty. ryanayr1987
I see Cummings has left Dundee. Punt joe and use his wages in Cummings? I am joking before anyone jumps on me.

That should in theory help get the rest of recruitment done as I believe he was one of the higher earners in that group of dross. First line on the Dunfermline website suggests they have paid a fee as well. Mathie is my POTY nomination. 1 hour ago, Rob1885 said: Class Against Morton he genuinely didn't clear the first man once with any attempt. Slow Joe and Sleepy are the two names for him as he always looks lethargic. Has had a few decent games for us but few is the key word in a sea of mediocrity.

Unless we've paid them to take him off our hands Surely it's more likely we've agreed to pay them a certain amount to cover part of his wages than that we've received a fee?
