Pretty crazy that our domestic season will begin before the World Cup final

How many clubs competing in the group stages of the League Cup are likely to have players playing in the World Cup final?

Dundee United, Dunfermline, Inverness and Falkirk the north second seeds? St Mirren, Livingston, Morton and Queen of the South the south ones.

If the top four make Europe then Hearts, St Johnstone, Dundee and Ross County the north seeds, Killie, Motherwell, Accies and Thistle the south ones. Obviously changes in Motherwell win the Scottish Cup and depending on who finishes fourth.

North teams: Brechin, Raith, Alloa, Arbroath, East Fife, Forfar, Montrose, Peterhead, Stirling Albion, Elgin, Cowdenbeath, Cove Rangers.

South teams: Dumbarton, Ayr, Stranraer, Airdrie, Queen's Park, Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir, Clyde, Annan, Berwick, Edinburgh City, Spartans.

That looks correct. Once again the "oddity" of Hearts in the north sector but Edinburgh City (and now also Spartans) in the south.

Motherwell winning the cup and Rangers/Hibs finishing 4th will presumably see the latter in the south section (causing an even bigger "oddity" of Hearts and Hibs being in different sectors).

However if Motherwell win the cup and Aberdeen finish 4th then Hearts will be in the south sector.

Incidentally - never before have 4 Edinburgh clubs played in the League Cup.

How will the round dates fit in after the group stages , particularly
Celtic playing their games as if as likely they are the only Scottish club left in Europe they will be running a round behind

The Second Round of the Betfred Cup will take place on the weekend of the 18th August.

I've only seen the fixture skeleton for Premiership clubs but there will be no fixtures arranged for the 18th August for Premiership or Championship sides. I'd imagine the same applies for League One and League Two but, given how few would probably be affected, I'd suspect a full card with postponements where required.

This season only Ayr made it out of the sections from SPFL1-2. Last season only Alloa and Peterhead. So having full cards and cancelling 1 or 2 games would seem more sensible.

Is the date for the final set yet, given that we are in most cup finals nowadays I have foolishly booked a holiday at the end of November

Wikipedia says Sunday 25th November but unsourced - might be supposition.

FIFA+UEFA dates have all moved "back" 1 week so potentially this will too i.e. Sunday 2nd December?

Couldn't be Sunday 25th November if Celtic reached CL groups and playing Tuesday 27th November.
