Fullerene
When I was much younger than I am now, I thought there was music I liked and music and music I didn't like and that was it. I also thought that people who did one kind of music had absolutely nothing to do with people who did another kind. I apologise - I was stupid back then but hopefully I am not as stupid now. What surprises me now is the number of time that this musician is doing a song with that musician and I fail to see the link. An easy one is the Travelling Wilburys - Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne (in no particular order). Do these guys know each other - yes of course they do - stupid. Last week there was a documentary on Channel Four about Jeff Beck, who did several songs with Stevie Wonder. That surprised me but I guess I am a complete moron. An album with A-Ha that includes Ian McCulloch from Echo and the Bunnymen. Listening to it - I can spot the connection now. Then there is the Skids with Mike Oldfield - Iona. Also, the late Stuart Adamson playing alongside Anna Fried from Abba. Enough of how intensely stupid I am. What unexpected collaborations do you know? GrahamJags
Shaggy & Sting. Absolutely unreal that this has been allowed to happen. Pitbull & Keane may very well become a reality.

capt_oats
The Judgement Night OST pretty much consists entirely of unexpected collaborations but shout out to Teenage Fanclub and De La Soul.
Al B
Maynard James Keenan from Tool, and Tori Amos. Kerry King from Slayer on the first Beastie Boys album. Most bizarre I can think of has to go to Matthew Marsden who was the mechanic on Coronation Street, backed by Destiny's Child.

Al B
I saw Sparks and Franz Ferdinand at The Fringe a couple of years ago, and it's easily the worst thing I've ever seen or heard. By some distance. And I've heard some shite.
Cardinal Richelieu
Not sure if this counts as a collaboration, but I quite like Jean-Michel Jarre's remix of Primal Scream's Come Together.
