Now that's what I'd call an away game. Could be up for it though. In fact no could about it, would definitely go. victormeldrew
Irn Bru Cup. Don't know why there is such negativity about this competition. The longer we can stay in the more money the Club gets. IF, and it's a big IF, we can get past Livi under 21's , what an experience lies ahead for the players and fans. The Club gets 5k for travel expenses and a chance to enjoy the Irish hospitality. Let's put out our strongest team on Tuesday and create a bit of history.

If you get through you’ll get 3k travelling expenses then the rest is down to the club to pay.

It will cost us money for either or both matches, with literally zero upside.

Not like you to be wrong about anything, but according to @Skyline Drifter it will be £7,000 for playing in Ireland.

[emoji1360]£7,000 is possibly manageable, say a squad of 20, plus management and board, about 35 all in? £200 a head for travelling, hotel and expenses.

This. Plus a share of the pool of 2nd round games, plus a chance for the Irish to experience Loons on Tour.
lichtiekev
It shouldn’t be a set limit on how much you get for expenses and that, what ever it costs without absolutely taking the piss should be covered, no way should you make any sort of loss on it, just as long as you keep all your receipts hahahah the worst thing about it is if any player need to take time off work, employers of part time football players must be the most understanding people around,

Players would struggle to go given the time needed off work and the squad is bare enough without a needless trip. Chuck the game on Tuesday

The games at a weekend and it's Ireland you're travelling to not Hong Kong. Having experienced the trip to Wales last year, I can't fathom why fans wouldn't be excited for trips like these. I've genuinely not been on an away day like it.
LoonsYouthTeam
Had a quick look yesterday, flight to Knock airport from Edinburgh is £66 return and there's a range of cheap b&bs in Sligo. Nowhere near as expensive as I thought.I have a stag do the weekend before and the wedding a couple of weeks after so currently trying to think how I could justify it but very tempting

You either travel on the earliest flight on Saturday morning - which means getting up at stupid o'clock for many of them - not great if they are then playing that afternoon. Or (more likely) you travel down the night before which in all likelihood would involve having to get time off from their various jobs as they would have to get on a bus at lunchtime or get to the airport for early evening.

The kick off times for these games are flexible though, we kicked our game with Connah's Quay off last year at 2.30pm because they wanted to catch a 6pm train home that night (which they duly then missed). Our game at TNS was an evening kick off. If your club have anyone with a brain they'll negotiate a kick off time that suits your squad.
Kwaka Mal
Kick off 3 pm on Saturday 8th, according to the SPFL website. After the performances against Livi and Stranraer, I don't think travelling to Sligo is something we'll have to 'worry' about.
Loon From Outta Toon
Very interesting listening to Jim’s interview, mentioning he’ll need to ship players out before he can get players in, who could be the casualties? And what team would want to spend money on any of our bench?
