Was hoping there would be some activity in this thread as Marmaris and Dalaman seem to be some of the places that we can still get late bargains for. Is it worth going there in the summer or will it be too hot? Are there things to see and do in the area or is it all about the beach and/or pool and the all inclusive buffet?

I much prefer the Antalya region of Turkey. Not much of a beach at Marmaris and it's full of Russians. If I was going to the Dalaman region I would prefer to stay in the Resorts of içmeler or Dalyan.

I would highly recommend Side.

Marmaris is a bit of a shitehole full of scummy brits getting pissed and letting their kids run riot till the early hours. Rangers pub is a personal highlight.

Içmeler is far better, Torunç beach is pretty quiet and isn't full of the obligatory sunbeds.

Knew it all along.

I'm heading there next week. Any recommendations?

Some walk from Icmeler to Olu Deniz?
I’ve been a few times to Icmeler, I think there was a place called the Love Boat, which was not a bad restaurant.
Just went there tonight. The steak and dessert selections are not half bad.

Icmeler has been pretty nice so far, but granted time of the year I'm here aside, I do get an impression that a lot of the places are a bit samey.

Turkish tourist resorts are all a bit samey. If you were flying back from say, Istanbul and made your own way there, that'd give you the proper experience.

Was in Antalya (belek) in May, and can honestly say I never really fancied Turkey much before, but after going, I absolutely loved it. Hotel/complex we stayed in was amazing, private beach, golf course, just a really relaxed atmosphere, can't recommend it enough.
The Cornelia Diamond Golf and Spa Resort.

I've never done Belek myself but some of the hotels look absolutely cracking.

I’m not a massive fan of Turkey, but we got a cracking deal on the Sensatori in Fethiye for earlier this year. Was an excellent break and the hotel was smashing. Would recommend if you’re looking for something on the quiet side.

I went to Marmaris about 8 years ago and won’t be rushing back. Saying that, the food in some of the restaurants was decent and well priced.
