Yeah but it's a formulaic response when a PM/FM resigns (from all parties) and no-one actually it expects it to happen.

Granny Danger
Unite refusing to endorse Labour’s manifesto. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c722zkj9ly8o Why do the unions still fund this bunch when they know a Labour government will do little or nothing for their members?

You mean the representatives of the workers don't think that the present incarnation of the party of the workers is actually acting to protect the interests workers when talking to the electorate? Well, I'm shocked.

He's been absolutely desperate for bites for months, yet failing miserably. I've no idea why he seems to think that this forum wouldn't be absolutely buzzing at the idea of the Tories being thoroughly rinsed, even if they are going to be replaced by a centre-right alternative. Presumably he'll switch to HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS SIR NIGEL FARAGE MP if Clacton finally gives him a job.

Saw that. About time the Unions grew some baws and stopped financing Labour. Not that Labour cares anymore when it's in bed with Murdoch and a raft of dodgy businessmen.

I presume there must be plenty of people involved in the unions who see association with Labour as a route to personal enrichment. Quite what the organisations as a whole get out of it is a mystery.
Crùbag
Didn't see the debate due to watching the Scotland v Grant Hanely game but heard that Rayner looked a tad uncomfortable defending right-wing Labour pish and nonsense that she doesn't really believe in. That and her not engaging Farage on his immigration froth because they essentially share the same policies. Flynn was good apparently. Some hope for the SNP?

My take on last night is that anybody who thinks Scotland is going to better served by Labour or isn't worried in the direction of travel that Farage is leading Lab or Tory really need to sit down and think very carefully who they'll vote for. The inane barking of Rayner and Mordaunt coupled with the far-right rhetoric of Farage really is cause for concern. Flynn was as good as an England-centric debate allowed but it was a good performance by the Greens.

The message is clear from those 3 parties - Labour are going to win so don't give them a blank cheque - that you can vote for other parties without fear of letting the Tories in. They also made clear that Labour and the Tories are 2 cheeks of the same arse.

Flynn did quite well and with the Plaid and Green leaders put forward the left wing view point. Lib Dem okay but they should never be forgiven for 2010. Rayner did not look too confident trying to defend labour policies. Mordaunt just continually talked over Rayner and Farage was his usual racist tosser self.

Salt n Vinegar
Sarwar starting to sound a bit desperate IMO. Apparently today he's come up with a wizard wheeze, saying that people voted in such large numbers for independence in 2014 because they didn't think Labour could win. Might seem a reasonable suggestion, but not to me. The referendum in 2014 was only 4 years after a Labour government. The Tories being in power then for only a few years was scarcely a generational death knell for future Labour governments. Looking a little further into what Sarwar has reportedly said, he has actually scored a massive own goal. As everyone around here knows, nothing resembling a Tory majority of Scottish seats has been achieved for almost 70 years, yet since then we've had Tory governments from 1959-1964, 1970-74, 1979-1992, then 2010 until now. The vote in June will get rid of a Tory government, no doubt about that. However, there's nothing to say that the fekkers won't be back in 2029. The best thing "anti-Tory" voters can do in Scotland is to make it impossible for Scotland to have a Tory government ever again by putting so much electoral pressure on Westminster that the right of Scotland to decide to leave this busted Union at a time of our choosing is respected. Voting Labour simply condemns Scotland to risk having increasingly right-wing governments imposed on us which we have no interest in supporting. Sarwar wants a short term answer to a generational problem.

MazzyStar
Liz Truss has completely destroyed the Tories chances of winning an election for at least a generation but you'll never see any prominent conservative politicians talk about her with the level of visceral hatred that the Labour right talks about Corbyn.
