RiG
So tomorrow sees the release of spiritual successor to the all time classic Theme Hospital - 2 Point Hospital. Anyone picking it up? Apparently some of the folk who worked on TH are involved with this game as well. So called "God" games seem to have largely died away but hopefully this one is as good as the original Bullfrog classic

RiG
Got it pre loaded on Steam ready to go on Thursday when I get home from work Fond memories of the original Theme Hospital with some of the classic diseases like Bloaty Head and Baldness. Completed that a good few times despite it being pretty repetitive although it was always fun. Hopefully this doesn't tarnish the memories. Lofarl
Always preferred theme park. But I’ll pick this up as theme hospital was a fun wee game. If you cast your mind back remember it had a jimmy savile character in it that would visit. Doubt that will be in it.

Dons_1988
Will definitely give this a go. Absolutely loved theme hospital back in the day.
RiG
Started playing this last night for a couple of hours. It's a lot more hands on than Theme Hospital with a lot more micro management of staff and patients required and there are a lot more things to pay attention to rather than just warmth, thirst and skills. Doctors and nurses have differing levels of diagnosis "power," specialist skill levels to work certain machines or work in particular rooms more efficiently and so on. Rooms have more prestige if you add more items into them. I know on Theme Hospital if rooms were bigger, had windows etc they were meant to make staff work more effectively but you never really say much evidence of that. Here you clearly can with the Room Prestige bar. The animations are really nice and quite funny as well (janitors trying to unblock toilets and then getting sucked in got a chuckle from me). Overall really enjoying it so far but I'm only on the first level trying to get my head around everything before I move on to the next one. GoTeamGaz
You can get the original for under a fiver on GOG, runs fine on modern computers, if a wee bit pixely https://www.gog.com/game/theme_hospital Also, if you are into these kind of games but super cheap I've been utterly obsessed with Open TTD, a Transport Tycoon open source game that has tonnes of add-ons that make the game even better than the first time you played it! https://www.openttd.org/en/

Crroma
Love management sims which are a dying breed. Looking forward to trying this
Mark Connolly
I used to waste days playing Theme Hospital and Sim Golf. Hopefully there is a follow up to that too!
Mackie The Staggie
I know it's done by some who worked on the original Theme series.....but this is such a Bullfrog game it's unreal. I can't think of any higher praise to be fair.
boulderdomb
Amazing game and loving it so far. Getting all of my hospitals as 3 stars before progressing. Have any of you attempted the online challenges yet rather than just the offline ones to increase star rating?

Always want to make sure things are running smoothly before moving on. I've just got to the 3rd level now (the one with the training room). I haven't tried any of the online challenges yet but I might try it tonight with one of my pals and see what happens.
BFTD
Looks like fun. Might give it a go when it goes on sale. Last time I needed a Theme Hospital fix, I tried the CorsixTH engine, which allows for much higher resolutions than the original. Some things hadn't been implemented yet, like rats (and the bonus levels), but there have been a lot of updates since then. Well worth a try if you own the original game. RiG
Onto the 4th level of this now. I got 3 stars in the 3rd level but then my hospital went into a mad tailspin and I started losing money hand over fist for seemingly no reason. The massive queues of people started building up outside my GPs offices, people were leaving the hospital in a rage. One thing I don't like about 2PH is that it is quite hard to see where something is going wrong. In that last hospital I had good doctors with the GP III skill so they should have been mad diagnosing machines but people seldom seemed to get diagnosed first time and were sent elsewhere to be checked out then back to the GPs office. A bit frustrating as the only solution seems to be to hire loads more doctors and build a lot more GPs offices to get the queues down.
BFTD
Theme Hospital is currently 99p through GOG. If anyone isn't sure if they'll like this type of game, now's the time to find out.

If you actually follow several patients, you'll see (at least the way I've built my rooms) they're complete tits trying to figure out where to go sometimes walking the length of a room before U-turning. The same applies for staff going to staff rooms, by the time they get there their break is over.

Yeah the pathfinding seems to be abysmal and I've now encountered a couple of arguably game breaking bugs where nurses don't tend to patients in the ward or fracture clinic and as a result massive queues build up as patients wait to be seen or discharged. The developers have acknowledged this and gave said a fix will be issued soon. For now though a fairly important part of the game doesn't work properly and I'm shelving it until these issues are fixed.
