Guest bernardblack
I’d say I probably drink too much. Tend to not drink Monday-Thursday but Friday is usually drinking in the house with the girlfriend whilst cooking and relaxing. Saturday is off to the football so beer and Sunday is usually chilling watching super Sunday with a few cans. Definitely could cut out the Friday/Sunday stuff and feel better for it
Richey Edwards
My Nana bought me one of those two pint bottles of beer for my 28th birthday. It's still in the fridge awaiting a good home.

NJ2
To cut a long story short I like to drink too much too often. I won’t just have 2 beers or 1 glass of wine after I’ve had a long day, I’ll want at least 5 beers if I’m going to bother doing it at all and more often than not I’ll have wine as well.No life changing event has made me feel like cutting down on it like i thought it might. Turning 30 made no difference, having a baby just meant loads of people wanted to come to house or wanted us round for a visit which always resulted in drinking. Having a more demanding and well paid job hasn’t changed anything and I’ve just had to get on with it on days I wasn’t feeling 100%. I’m pretty sure getting married to the same woman I’ve been with for 9 years won’t change my attitudes toward it either. I have been playing a lot of 5’s recently which has been great for me, but afterwards I like to go out for a beer or to have one when I get back to the flat, there really isn’t a much better feeling than a few beers after a pretty vigorous exercise! Glad you cut the long story short, throbs...
RedRob72
When I know I am going to the pub with my pals I am buzzing. Absolutely love perching myself on a stool and getting that first pint in. It feels like my happy placeGreat description, that most pub aficionados will relate to! Even if the occasions are few and far between these days!
Raidernation
About 3 1/2 years now?Genuinely beginning to forget how long.Had become a serious issue so I sought help, voluntarily went to rehab and counseling.Went to AA but wasn’t for me.Some hard days in the first 6 months but I seem to be much less twitchy now.Miss the taste of a cold beer occasionally but it’s not worth the risk.
Dons_1988
I cut it out for 3 months last year because I was becoming a fat c**t and I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror anymore. I lost 3 stone in 10 weeks, felt brilliant, performed better at work, wife could stand me being around etc etc and although I always planned to drink again I’d promised myself it would always only be once a week and to moderation. Unfortunately a sudden death of a friend made me melt like a chocolate kettle, I went back to my old ways and I’m a fat c**t again. Currently on week 1 of trying to regain my healthy ways and can honestly say even after 6 days I feel much better.

mizfit
I’ve definitely calmed down on my drinking. I used to go to the pub 2 nights a week and drink in the house one night. I think as you grow up and have other priorities, getting wrecked every weekend stops being as appealing. Nowadays, I’ll happily sit in the house watching telly and enjoying a few, and maybe Make a trip to the pubs once a month with friends. I have one friend who I am convinced has a drink problem however, and he won’t listen to anyone about it.

Simply cutting out boozing wouldn't have achieved that.

Leave that on and they can hang glide without any equipment.

Cut out booze, gym 5 times a week, cut out eating any shit whatsoever. Was all perfectly healthy. Went from 102.5kg to 83kg in 75 days (so I suppose you could round up to 11 weeks). ETA - also walking the dog twice a day in addition to the gym

If you're in a healthy phase it's maybe a good time to look at your booze & food reliance rather than getting into a cycle of getting fit then something happening and going back to pigging out.

I'd do a load of exercise, get healthy and see it as a free pass to eat and drink anything. Then it got to the stage that exercise was all that would keep me from the booze and pizza.

Ylf
Love going for a pint on a Saturday but as I’ve previously said the hangovers are getting worse. Used to go to my local Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday but knocked that on the head years ago. It got boring as fuk anyway. Once you grow out of it and get your own place you want to spend money on the house not down your throat
