In terms of a Lowland League 2 in time for next year, the Selkirk situation may well turn out to be significant. The Lowland League will have an application process to sift through this year regardless.

They can now make it a multi option process. Apply for the Lowland League vacancy, Lowland League 2 or both at the the same time.

Would like to see a Lowland League East and West in time to sit below the Lowland League.

That's not going to be any different from next year's EOS Premier and West Premier.

One organisation instead of 3. East & West probably involved in cup competitions against each other.

Might help increase promotion spots if they are all run by the Lowland League.  Also moved the South of Scotland League further down.

The only applications they should be entertaining for the Lowland League vacancy should be from the highest finishing teams - ie the bottom placed Lowland League club, the SoS champions or the 2nd placed team in the EoS (assuming that the EoS team win the play-offs). Maybe the West Junior champions at a push. It would be completely wrong to include anyone else.

That seems to me to be one of criteria in choosing an applicant. Chances are they'll be asking for applications by March 31st so they can begin that sifting process, as that fits along side the process for the potential SoS/EoS Playoff.

East of Scotland is in some ways more professional than juniors. However does not have the same character and camaraderie sometimes. Should be split into 4 sections, borders, Fife, Falkirk to West Lothian, then Edinburgh and the other Lothians, this would have to encompass some junior teams who have not made transition. Top two of each league play end of season play offs for spot in lowland league, having 2 spots up for grabs. Then hopefully the West juniors would follow suit with a similar system for South of Scotland league again 2 places for lowland league. 4 up for down is large however if lowland league increased to 20 members would be sustainable. Also localisation and regionalisation again with juniors means less expenses for clubs to pay and more money to invest in squad and facilities. Also if tweedmouth play jeanfied for example this season, this is a huge distance with over a 2 hour travel time, and 200 mile road trip, so before even set off that’s a fairly large bill for travel. There’s a lot of ways to look at it, but regionalisation brings local Derby’s back, Penicuik vs Musselburgh, Bathgate vs fauldhouse, Whitehill vs Bonnyrigg/ newtongrange/ Dalkeith etc. Fife teams like Oakley vs hill of beath etc, would be good and should seed Scottish cup places to top 5 teams from each league every year for preliminary round. Whatever the final decision is not everyone will be happy but by keeping things local until lowland league etc will prevent small clubs getting thumped every week and also travelling a lot, borders teams would benefit, as would West Lothian, not all have the same following and backing as the top juniors boys so locally Derby’s spurs more interest than a random game such as Blackburn vs Eyemouth if that happened. I hope whatever happens all teams go east of Scotland as it’s better run with juniors and having linesman at most games as opposed to 4/5 matches having linesman this weekend in ersjfa.

Erm no, I don't want to be stuck in a league playing the same old clubs in a 10 mile radius thanks, this is semi-pro senior football not a pub league.  Yes we want to have more games against our local rivals, but not every single game, I'd rather a trip to Eyemouth.

"does not have the same character and camaraderie [as the Juniors]", actually, there is zero difference and it's good to face new teams and make new friendships.

A return to district leagues of yore isnt the answer. East juniors (ex & current) have proven they can compete & sustain in leagues from Montrose to Haddington or Fauldhouse. Regionalisation will be needed in the EOS at some point but not until their third tier (inline with how the East juniors worked) most likely. Nor do I see a 20 team LL being viable as it'd mean a 38 game season.

Is that because Blackburn couldn’t be the best club in that ten mile radius?

No, we were probably third best last season of clubs in that radius behind Broxburn and Fauldhouse. People are far too obsessed by "local football", last years Premier League was great, as will the EoS in future.

Constantly playing clubs a few miles doon the road holds no attraction for me personally. A mixture of local and not so local is best, that's what the Juniors always have been anyway.

Ye'd think Scotland was the size of Congo or Russia they way some folk are determined to regionalise everything. There are two hour journeys in the tenth tier in England, four hours in the 4th tier in Finland, etc.

Yet folk think if it aint walking distance then it's gonna cripple clubs in Scotland in the 5th/6th level

I agree and think personally travelling would be great but know a few senior and junior players and they say a lot of clubs either can’t afford are or refusing to give reasonable expenses, not saying it’s all about money but unless the leagues mostly made up of amateur players who will play for free and not moan about expenses, the clubs with the smaller backings will struggle when they try sign higher quality players or trying to keep a hold of players should someone else come calling.

But what's reasonable?

Take Pumpherston as an example. If they were in the EoS their outliers would be Tweedmouth and... St. Andrews?  Nothing more than 90 minutes and that would be only a handful of times a year.

If they did make it to the Lowland League then I guess Dumfries and Galloway would be the outlier. The most extreme, depending on promotions and relegations, would be Stranraer once a year at three hours. Most of their games would still be an hour or so and, if ye've been promoted, the outlook and circumstances of players and the club would change in line with the league yer in.
