doulikefish
On the bright side it spared us an hour and a half of a Hamilton wankathon on the sky after race coverage

The Golden God
Love to see it, a win off the books for him and added to Hamilton who has 100s anyway.

flyingscot
Well that's a f**k up but fair cop. Shame for George Russell as he drove a really good race.
David W
Whilst funny, it does feel a bit of a shame that a genuinely interesting race comes down to something like that.
welshbairn
l thought Wollf seemed oddly subdued after scoring a one two, maybe he knew what was coming.
Stu
One stop strategy meaning the tyres were more worn combined with no cool down lap to pick up crap on the tyres being put down as the reason. First part is possible but second is the same for everyone surely. Shame it wasn’t Piastri who inherited the victory, would have meant his second win was even more underwhelming than his first.

scottsdad
It is a shame. I really enjoyed the race and the ending, it was a great drive. But...roolz is roolz. Can't really argue with it.

Six different drivers winning in nine races and four different constructors in seven races. Verstappen only has three podiums in six races. In the last four races (Belgium, Hungary, GB, Austria plus sprint): Piastri 77 Hamilton 73 Russell 60 (+ retired from 4th at GB) Verstappen 56 Norris 47 (0 in Austria following crash with Verstappen) Sainz 44 Leclerc 26 Perez So, we agree then.

GordonS
2 hours ago, V.Aye.R said: If I'd said the same about McLaren and Mercedes a few months ago you'd have laughed at that too. If I'd said they'd be quicker than the Red Bull you'd have pissed yourself. Yet, here we are. BTW Leclerc came third today, ahead of both Red Bulls and a McLaren, and he's still third in the driver's championship. It's pretty obvious that Ferrari aren't far away.

He'll tell himself that it was a technical mistake and he'd have won anyway, but in a 300km+ race decided by less than a second, in which he was just able to hold off Hamilton's attempts to pass for a few laps, you have to wonder if it could have made the difference.
Stu
18 hours ago, V.Aye.R said: What a spectacular turnaround for Mercedes. Formula 1 is finally interesting again, hooray! Hamilton must be really excited to be leaving this team for Ferrari A few months ago folk were wondering what Ferrari had got themselves into after signing Hamilton because of how slow he was. Seems nice and close and unpredictable at the moment - it probably has been the last few years as well, the difference now is that Red Bull are also in the mix rather than being miles in front. 8 hours ago, GordonS said: He'll tell himself that it was a technical mistake and he'd have won anyway, but in a 300km+ race decided by less than a second, in which he was just able to hold off Hamilton's attempts to pass for a few laps, you have to wonder if it could have made the difference. That's probably what killed any hope they had of arguing their case - although being under weight is usually a straightforward DQ anyway. If he'd won by 10/20 seconds they could have maybe tried going down the "Well, what difference does it make?" route in the hope they got some leniency but when it was such a tight finish there was no chance.
Sherrif John Bunnell
Given the million different sensors the cars have, I assume the pit wall would have known that they were underweight almost immediately, especially with it being the only race they can't pick up marbles? That could explain why Wolff seemed in such a foul mood at the end of the race. Edited July 29 by Sherrif John Bunnell
