Stenny v Sons

Having watched back the highlights, CEMSFC is bang on, it's Alan Cook who clips Bobby Barr in the build up to Dumbarton's second goal. What is picked up in the highlights is Barr yelling: "Ye booked him in the first half!" several times while pointing at Connor McBrearty, who is duly sent off.

Unedifying stuff.

That is amazingly poor refereeing. Stenny could appeal based on mistaken identity I think?

I honestly don't know how McBrearty managed to refrain from smashing his forehead right into Barr's face.

Our defending really is farcical The first goal is a comedy of errors. Poor clearance, zero pressure, howler from the keeper. Stenny work the 2nd well but we don't make it hard for them.

As for our goals...Ross Forbes, and that's all there is to say about that.

Referee was atrocious yesterday and it was summed up by that red card. As others have said surely Stenny will be able to appeal that.

Probably evened itself out because McBreartry should have been booked in the first half when he caught Callum Gallagher with his elbow/arm anyway.

Cook should also have been on a booking before that for deliberately kicking the ball away. The ref had a word about it but didn't book him - the rules couldn't be much clearer on that.

When Cook kicked the ball away, he was sprinting to keep it in play and could argue he arrived there a little too late to stop it from going out. It was not a clear-cut offence.

The ball was clearly out of play and he knew exactly what he was doing.  He was hardly sprinting and was running along the line so he could see clearly the ball was out of play before he kicked it. The ref was just so incompetent and didn't book him.

I do believe Cook had leathered the ball away to waste time but I couldn't say it for certain.

Hardly the most contentious moment of the game, anyway.

Ah, that's disappointing. He hasn't been as influential as he was last term but Harry Paton has been an excellent player for Stenhousemuir. A real driving force and a major factor in last season's promotion. Very sorry to see him move on.

I agree it wasn't the most contentious. The ref had a pretty mixed game yesterday. Just my opinion that his mistaken identity kind of evened things out.

Anyway, again if Dumbarton had a semi competent striker amongst their ranks they could have easily won the game yesterday. The amount of missed chances must be about the highest in the league this season.

The goals we lost were both very, very poor from our point of view. The first a whole host of mistakes and the 2nd we have a corner which is cleared and Allardice loses the ball with an absolutely horrendous touch. We then proceed to run back looking like a bunch of headless chickens and the ball is toe poked over the line.

We can't rely on the one (or two) moments of magic from Forbes or Thomas to save us in matches. Especially when we are creating so many chances already.

Ross County were happy for Harry to remain for the rest of the season. it was Harry, and only Harry, who wanted to return to his parent club to fight for his place.
