Alloa Athletic vs Ayr United

Recommended Posts

Must win.

The Inverness debacle is over and while the second half bombardment of their goal would have warranted a point, ultimately we did not get one and absolutely shat it when it mattered most. Our visit to the Clackmannanshire metropolis on Saturday presents a chance for us to get back on the right track. We were always going to have a blip at some point, it's up to the players to drag us out of it.

Alloa have had a very impressive season, particularly when you consider what was expected of them at the outset (Stripey relegation fodder) however we have won both meetings so far reasonably comfortably.

Would consider throwing Muirhead in beside Rose at CB and dropping Steven Bell after the free gift scheme that he was operating against ICT at Somerset, and although Moore can't be faulted for the first half of that game, Shankland must start,

Don't think Murdoch on the wing is the answer so would start McGuff...Aw wait.

1-1.

The last team I would want to face when we are deep in a slump is Alloa.  We need a win here.

Deep in a slump ???

Were you at the game on Friday or even last night ???

If we play as well as we did last in terms of our attacking play then we should win this. However the defence let us down massively and could do with freshening up a wee bit. I’m sure we’ll have a new signing or 2 in the squad but as it stands I’d play,

Doohan

Smith
Muirhead
Rose
Harvie

Murdoch
Docherty
Crawford
McDaid

Moffat
Shankland

One win since the end of Novemeber

By any definition that is deep in a slump

Nope, I'm not having that. The fact that had we won last night we would have been top of the league doesn't tell me that we are "deep in a slump".

We just beat the team with the largest budget in the league that many have as the favourites for the title on Friday night and not only did we beat them, we completely outplayed them.

As for last night, we were playing another of the top sides in the division who despite lots of draws had only lost 3 times this entire season, however due to 3 individual errors we were beaten by 3 goals to 2, but, I don't think anyone would dispute that we were the better team and were very, very unlucky to lose the game.

Yes, we lost recently to Falkirk, Inverness (again) & Talbot (all by the odd goal), however we were depleted in all these matches and apart from that we don't have any God given right to be winning every week, so all in all I for one I'm still ecstatic about our season to date and despite us succumbing to our little Ayrshire cousins I'm still believing this to be our best season in living memory as opposed to being "deep in a slump".................

But we didn't win last night.

Regardless of how good a season we are having, and I'll agree with you we are having a right good season, we are in the middle of a form slump. However the reason we are still within touching distance at the top is down to everyone else's inconsistency. We can use whatever excuses we like, but the fact remains we aren't winning games. We are where we are

One win in two months is not title winning form, and if it doesn't change soon it won't even be form good enough for reaching the playoffs.

If we were playing badly I'd agree with you, however we're not. We're still controlling matches and looking good, there's no doubt that we were missing the cutting edge and movement of Shankland and we've also really missed Forrest but all in all I still think we've coped admirably considering our small squad.

Anyway, Shankland is back, the team are still looking good and we might even have reinforcements soon, so all in all we're in a good position and I'm sure Ross County will encounter a few slip ups between now and the end of the season just like us all.............

You can’t say that based on one game though. He was fine on the right against Dundee United, set up the goal and should have scored one himself.

It worked well tactically for that game, but he doesn’t add much in games where we’re trying to get at teams. He kept on drifting in to the middle last night. Our best centre mid and he’s been flung out right.

Please, for the love of f**k, do not start Murdoch on the right. If we do not get a winger in today or tomorrow then McCalls fucked it.

Completely agree if McCall can’t get a winger in then serious questions need to be asked.

Our central midfield should ALWAYS feature Andy Murdoch. Sticking him on the wing because we ridiculously sent one of our two fit wingers out on loan is suicidal and I think we are due an explanation from McCall outlining why McGuffie got sent to Raith when we had no replacement lined up.
