jamamafegan
I had never heard of this Bellingham chap until his move. The Brummies obviously have a wee stauner over him and I don’t quite get it. It’s all a bit bizarre.

Compare Louie Barry, who had been at West Brom for a decade, then refused to sign a pro deal so he could join Barcelona gratis. And now rocks up at Villa on the cheap. Basically a con to get around the rules that help the rich to steal all the good players from smaller teams. Another nail in the coffin of real clubs in favour of the Eurofranchises. It's credit to Bellingham and his family that they basically forwent millions in their skies to do the morally right thing. He'll be on fifty quid a week and petrol money at Dortmund, I'm sure.

And the club's CEO is called Dong. So this isn't even in the top 100 cringey things we've managed. You can take BSG back.

Didn't you hear, Bellingham was only moving from a shite relegation battling second tier team to one of the biggest clubs in Europe as a favour to Birmingham City. Nothing to do with having the chance to develop with some of the best youth coaches at a club with one of the best reputations in the world for youth development.
bluearmyfaction
Point is he could have moved for buttons, rather than signing a pro deal with Blues first. Similar situation happening at West Ham with Benicio Baker-Boitey (Triple B?) going to Bayern Munich - only he will cost them £200k rather than £25m because he rejected West Ham's offer.

There's clubs up here who see players do half dece t in their careers and say "he's one of us" and "made at *enter club*" despite only being at their club for about 18 months and in fact, made debuts elsewhere.
Brummie Clyde
The Blues diary, where they accidentally printed the honours that Villa had won, instead of Blues was my favourite. Actually had to release a statement confirming that they had never won the European Cup. Saw a thing saying that Villa are retiring the number 4 shirt, as Danny Drinkwater's loan has expired and he's going back to Chelsea. As an aside, I do think it was good that he signed a pro-contract, to ensure you got good money for him.

Baffles me.

It is a shit load of money for a 17 year old that has played a half century of games. Birmingham are well within their rights. Is it overkill? Aye but this transfer could have as big an impact as someone playing 800 games for the club. I don't see the big deal to be honest.

Countryman
Interesting Article on charges against Owls and Rams It's on a site founded by a barrister (for what that's worth)

bluearmyfaction
3 hours ago, Countryman said: Interesting Article on charges against Owls and Rams It's on a site founded by a barrister (for what that's worth) I think there is a problem with this bit. Quote Considering that (i) SWFC has ‘numerous emails, letters and other documents in which the EFL gave authorisation to the [sale of Hillsborough], and on which authorisation [SWFC] understood it could rely’ and (ii) DCFC ‘discussed the rationale for the stadium sale with the EFL Executive, ahead of the transaction, supplied and discussed the valuation, and bar a small adjustment in respect of its FFP/P&S submissions, the Club was given written approval’, it is easy to see how each type of estoppel explained above can be argued forcefully by SWFC and DCFC respectively. It is this author’s opinion that should such evidence be available to SWFC and DCFC as stated then each club has good prospects of successfully defending the charges made against them in respect of their respective stadium sales and avoiding the sanctions that can be imposed pursuant to EFL Regulations, regulation 92 in respect of the same. If Wednesday and Derby smashed FFP by tens of millions because the League told them they could sell their grounds to their owners, then the defence could work. But if they had ALREADY smashed FFP, and got the League's permission to sell the grounds to the owners to get around it, then I do not see how it could fairly work. They did not break the rules with the League's blessing; they broke the rules and THEN sought the League's blessing. In fact, if it is the latter, and were I the chairman of a League club, I think I would be extremely ticked off that the League basically helped Wednesday and Derby get a massive financial advantage on the quiet by permitting them to do something that is unprofitable and unsustainable.
