ForzaDundee Posted August 10, 2019 Share Posted August 10, 2019 Imagine we vote for independence, there is a big fanfare and event around the re-convening of the Parliament and then the Queen does a wee day-trip up to give us our independence and make our democratically elected MPs swear an oath of allegiance to her. That would not go down well at all. Independence campaign would very easily become a republican campaign. Seize the Crown Estate and the Palace of Holyroodhouse as the residence for our President (maybe call it Toiseach like our Irish brother call their PM) - President should just spend all his time promoting Scotland and Scottish culture, invite all world leaders and billionaires round to get pished on Scotch whisky. dine on Scottish salmond, helicopter trips up to the Highlands. We could always call her Queen Elizabeth the First of Scots after Independence and then go for a President after that. Billy Connelly has been a unionist for too long to even be considered, he's only recently changed his mind slightly cause the writing is on the wall. More serious answer would be to be like Canada and retain them as it's too much of a hassle to replace them but largely tune them out. Doubt independence is happening any time soon though. The penny hasn't dropped yet that hard Brexit genuinely could mean needing a passport to go to Carlisle. He joined Everton in July 2001 after winning his battle against cancer, and after his Celtic contract expired. On his arrival at Goodison Park, Stubbs stated it had always been his dream to play for the club. Where is the Stuart connection? if there is one it must be tenuous given that she is directly descended from The Hanovarian George the 1st who when chosen over the Stuarts by the english government was 74th in line to the throne but the fact that he was protestant gave him favour over the Stuarts, in fact her grandmother Queen Mary was German and the family were initially known as the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha until they changed it in the first world war to Windsor. Her family is littered with germans and about twenty years ago she wanted to confer the title The Duke of Cumberland on a german cousin of hers but backed down due to the furore raised by Scots.
