vikingTON
You wouldn't cross the Tay to go from Greenock to Inverness. [emoji851]Most would cross the Tay at Perth but the correct away day train route via Glasgow, Fort William, Mallaig, Skye and Kyle of Lochalsh would not.

If he keeps this up over the season extremely likely in the summer he'll be off. Feel sorry for the next striker at United having to step into his boots. Yeah doubt you'd sell unless it was a stupid bid like into a million, still think someone will test you with a bid for him. Probably down south as for some reason no Scottish clubs in the premiership seem to want to touch him.
Janne Lindberg's Laces
That was an absolute shambles today and whilst Hopkin definitely has to take his fair share of the blame for it there are not many Morton players that get pass marks, some absolutely shocking mistakes and lack of desire to get in the ball and do anything. United were by far the better team and would probably still have humped us without Shankland but him, Pawlett and Mcmullan tore our back 4 a new one time and time again. Millar and McAllister is a midfield pair that I hope to never see again. Both have been excellent players for us and both have a part to play still but not in that formation and not together. Sutton and McHugh looked like they'd never met before and Cadden was anonymous unfortunately. I can't figure out if Reece Lyon was meant to start wide and get himself inside in order to leave Welsh all alone or if that's just what he did because he's not a wide player? We did look more competitive (but still not good enough) second half with Blues and Colville bringing a bit of energy to the middle of the park. Hopkin shouting at the crowd to come down to the dugout was ridiculous. As was the referee responding to shouts directed his way. Not that it would have had any bearing on the game but Watson should have been sent off twice for throwing elbows; once which the referee and linesman missed and the second time for the one they saw and booked him for (prompting above mentioned abuse). Anyway, shite performance, shite result, deserved nothing. The Phoenix before the game was good though.

Accent-Unknown
What did Morton do to piss off every Partick Thistle fan?
captainkev
That wasn't 'probably' our best performance this season. That was our best performance in this campaign to date; even accepting that Morton were very poor. McMullan was superb today. Ignoring his goals and assist, I was really impressed by his role in the build up to Shankland's 2nd. I've been quietly optimistic that Sporle would come good, but he was excellent in the first half today. 2nd half, less so. But a very encouraging performance nonetheless. Especially with the rumours about Robson being out for a while. Brown was excellent today. I really hope he keeps fit and lets Butcher stay in midfield where he's at his best. I'd much prefer to keep Harkes in midfield with Butcher rather than Stanton. Shankland shouldn't be here. We're definitely over-paying him to play at this level; but it's hard not to adore someone so ridiculously prolific. I was sitting in the GF Lower, so I can't wait to see what actually went on for his hat trick goal. I think he's already matched Safranko's total goal tally in all competitions from last season. On a down note, I felt sorry for Appere being dropped. I always suspected Neilson would drop him as soon as he had one bad game, but he deserves more game time again sooner rather than later. I'm also quite sceptical whether Chalmers will make it even at this level; but I'm well chuffed he got that goal today.
coppola
We won't play many more obliging teams than Morton this season and the early goal obviously helped but, for me, the biggest difference between last week and this were McMullan and Sporle. Having 2 guys in the wide areas who wanted the ball and wanted to take it forward meant we were getting up the park quicker, creating space and getting the ball in behind the defence rather than spending an age knocking it about in front of our opponents. McMullan motm, Sporle had a quiet 2nd half after an excellent 1st. Shanklands knack for being in the right place at the right time is unreal. Good performances throughout the team. Can't stress enough how shite Morton were though. Total failure to do the basics all over the pitch. Whichever defender it was let Shankland just wander past him for his 3rd pretty much typified their performance.
Pull My Strings
I thought the biggest difference from last week was that Morton came out and tried to close us down, which meant that we were able to play through. Passing the ball about the back only makes sense when it draws the opposition out of position and creates space. Last week Arbroath just stayed in their shape and waited. The tactics last week were all wrong, yesterday the same tactics worked perfectly.

Jamie_M
How did that work out?Would have thought the 'if' and 'somehow' in his post was pretty self explanatory that it was an unlikely scenario. It didn't, he won't, pretty stupid thing to try to jump on.
