Update, mum phoned back:

Mum: We're fine for stuff you don't need to worry.

Me: But what if you need to self isolate?

Mum: We both feel fine, we're not going to need to isolate!

Me: But the government might force you.

Mum: Why would they do that?

Me: It doesn't matter why, they might do it. Tell me what food you'll run out of in 2 weeks.

Mum: Oh I don't know, and anyway we have a lovely butcher we can go to when we run out

Me: What if you can't go to the butcher

Mum: Who's going to stop me going to the butcher?

f**k me I'm engraving 'don't say I didn't warn you' on their grave stones.

My parents are in NZ just now and due back in two weeks, they cannot fathom "isolation".  They are both in the high risk age zone but they are both probably fitter than me, so I'm not overly concerned for their well being, but they really think they'll just be carrying on life as usual when they get back. I'm hoping when they see some of them panic here they'll take the wise decision to stay in the fucking house.

If they want to my work to buy and setup and manage these 55 VPNs I’m sure they’d oblige...

How much does it cost to set one up? That will be the deciding factor tbh.

If you can't, you can't.  It's as simple as that, really.

We'll have airline pilots on here next making the same point.  It really does go without saying work from home if you can - I think that was already said.

I know an airline pilot who works from home.  Mind you he has a problem if he forgets to leave the landing light on.

Pretty lucky that I work in IT and my employers said at the start of the week it’s up to us where we work.

Only issue was the Tuesday meeting when everyone else at home showed their camera and were sat in work clothes....I did not think people would dress for work, if they were not in the office

Hoping they keep Eden Court open, there's usually only a handful of punters anyway.

My rheumatology consultation was cancelled at half an hour’s notice. I took the opportunity to go Dingwall Tesco... so long as you are happy eating Easter eggs for three months, we’ll make it through this. IMG_0808.jpg

Would people not dress pretty casual in IT anyway?

I definitely wouldn't be sitting at home in my suit if working from home was possible.

In the UK, the network coverage website Down Detector is showing a surge in reports of issues with most of the country’s major mobile networks.

It comes as many Britons are working from home and, presumably, much more reliant on their mobile devices to make work calls, emails and other communications.

From the graphs shown on the Down Detector home page, reports of problems began to accelerate from around 9am this morning, before peaking just after 11am. The rate of reports now appears to be slowing.

Wouldn't be surprised if they stop my chemo, the benefits were pretty marginal compared to the rest of my treatment even before the added risk now.

That's just fuckin weird behaviour tbh. I've been on some video calls this week and only the lead has been wearing a shirt. I've been on the couch with a dressing gown half the time. 😂

From what I was told, they’re going to make sure everyone who is at extra risk is given priority. I’d imagine you’ll fall into that category. They’re going to process those patients, either in or off patients, first and are cancelling everyone who can wait. Eventually this will mean they are only dealing with people with standard risk. GP services will be absolute emergencies only.

Edit: hope it works out for you. This is going to suck for anyone who needs regular treatment.

Other half got an email from her work today asking anyone who is required to have a yearly flu jab to get in touch.

She has Crohns so seems theres a chance she'll be getting 12 weeks paid leave.

My biggest problem is lack of info for the ill the carers and general front line staff. I'm humming and hawing whether to stop my dads chemo. I left a message with haematology but still no word back. Usually stop when he gets chest infections but don't know whether to be pro active and build up his immunity incase he picks up the bug.

Of course, I usually make my own steak pie and people actually ask me to do so. Hence the reason I've never tried one in a tin. Is it an experience worth having?

No

And then you have the issue of not knowing how long you’ll need to stop for.
