Not surprisingly our Tesco is empty like most others but all the local shops which are placed in the middle of schemes etc (which only locals would know about) have everything that Tesco doesn't, such as Paracetamol, Toilet Rolls, Kitchen Rolls etc. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed something similar in their own area ?

Florentine_Pogen
The perspicacity and humanity of our MP's at PMQ's is truly awe-inspiring...... Andy Carter, a Conservative, asks for an assurance that the government will do all it can to save lives. Yes, says Johnson. Inanimate Carbon Rod
Can anyone explain how certain sports "stars" such as high profile footballers and so called "celebrities" are managing to be tested while not being either "at risk" or hospitalised, however key workers such as front line NHS staff aren't ??My wife was expected to see suspect corona patients at her practice today without any PPE. The government are fucking this up.

Cyclizine
We're having fun. All elective surgery cancelled. Doubling our ICU capacity (we'll probably need more). Transferring staff to critical care. Not enough PPE to go round everyone. We're going to go to 3 on 3 off shifts for the foreseeable future so we can staff ICU, HDU and theatres. Going to be a big impact on medical training. Medical students have all been sent home, university exams cancelled... Who knows what will happen in August, if final years can't graduate, might not have any new doctors starting; or they might start having not sat any final exam... The junior doctors have been told they're not rotating in April. All interviews for training jobs in August cancelled. Specialist exams cancelled. All study leave cancelled. Senior trainees about to become consultants may not be signed off. Going to be very busy the next few months...

The government are fucking this up. We don't have enough. Even better, the national contact has changed the FFP3 masks available, so those who've been fitted on the old ones need to be fitted on the new ones. Theoretically, non aerosolising patients only require surgical masks and aprons, not full FFP3 masks, gowns and eye protection. What is mad is we can't test health staff. We've got about a fifth of our acute staff self isolating due to either their own or family symptoms. Most of these won't be covid positive, but they still can't work.

All this chat about getting JCB to make some ventilators (I'll have an actual medical company like Dräger or Penlon, please) is pointless when we don't have enough trained staff to use them.
