Still, I'm sure that Pagel, Gurdasani and the rest of the gang will take this scientific conclusion with their accustomed, timeless dignity.

Can't wait for another made up number of the amount of people in the UK with long covid being produced off the Deepti calculator in a fifteen-tweet strop about this.

That guy is absolutely insane.

Here's a hilarious thread where he reckons covid is causing brain damage and unexplained fainting.

At first I actually thought it was a spoof account but I think the guy is deadly serious.

There is evidence of neurological and physical brain changes due to covid.

Scotgov will be wanking over current numbers.   14,387 cases today and 41 deaths.

5796 still positive via PCR tests.  Thought we had stopped doing those !!!  Who are these people ?

England is only running about 30,000 a day and Wales less than 1000

The doomsters will be out on the Air waves I suspect next few days.

Gov advice is still to book a PCR test if you are symptomatic.

There are other circumstances, such if you need to apply for a self isolation grant, where you require a PCR result.

This. Certain countries also need a proof of infection to skip the arrival PCR tests. Why I went for one.

Well no Dr Margaret, there's more pressing issues in the world at the moment than one of the many incurable respiratory viruses that humans can catch.

It's actually quite curable, but circulation will never be eliminated.

Must be due to all the mask wearing in Scotland.

That’s given us those wonderful figures.

Ehhh!!!

You still need a PCR if you're applying for the COVID support payment.

We had been working on an infrastructure program for 5 W of S LAs to let staff return on a 40/60 hybrid model from 1 April. Meeting tomorrow and the word is 3 have decided to scrap any return for 3 months and the other 2 want to carry on but with compulsory mitigations of 2m distancing plus masks unless sitting at a work station all because of "a worsening situation". Ominous, very ominous !

LA's are the worst for adding extra layers of shite on top of whatever is mandated, this is just like them taking snow days

What's the reason for around 150 cases per day for over 2 months being included in today's total?

On a specimen date basis, even when the testing infrastructure was at breaking point, you rarely saw any cases at all more than 3 or 4 days old.

Something, clearly, has changed in the recording and reporting of cases that, unless i've missed it (not really been paying much attention tbh) hasn't been publicised.

If you download the Covid data by health board spreadsheet from here -https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-trends-in-daily-data/

there is a note C65, that says today over 13,000 positive lateral flow results previously uncounted were distributed between the 6th of January and today.

The only thing driving what little will there is to return is public perception. The services appear to be operating at least at back office level pretty much normally in a WFH model. I'm sure I saw the local press report here today that S Ayrshire councillors voted on a hybrid model for a minimum of a year so there is going to be no wholesale return anytime soon.

I see BBC ramping up the rising numbers tonight despite the other major news story.
