Granny Danger
I would recommend this, based on the real life experience of a young woman trying to escape the repression of ultra Orthodox Judaism. This still goes on; enlightening and disturbing in equal measure. The juxtaposition in episode two between the ‘freedom’ of her trying on jeans and her husband’s ritualism at worship is very poignant.

I posted a comment on the Netflix forum but it does deserve it's own Topic. Thought the young Israeli actress was outstanding, deserves awards for her performance.
Brother Blades
Just finished it this morning, I agree, a great bit of TV, and great performance by the actress playing Esther.
Turkmenbashi
Very much enjoyed this, even if I wasn't sure I would. Just watched a documentary One of Us on Netflix this evening about leaving the Hasidic community in New York, is brutal viewing.

The treatment of apostates, particularly by certain Jewish sects and by Muslim communities, is truly appalling. Probably happens in some Christian and other communities too but less so close to the U.K. I finished Unorthodox too and was very impressed by the production and the actors; not really a poor performance. Shira Haas was outstanding. Edited May 6, 2020 by Granny Danger -
jamamafegan
Watched this last week, a great series. Wonder if there will be a second series, thought it ended in a good place though.
