Jim McLean's Ghost
Hopefully UEFA explain that this is actually onside because the defender played the ball. Everyone goes WTF that is stupid! And they change the rule.

Jim McLean's Ghost
3 minutes ago, Ro Sham Bo said: Commentators saying it was great refereeing They got it right according to the letter of the law. Any deliberate touch by a defender (but not the goalkeeper) puts everyone onside. It is a stupid rule. There should be some sort of control required, not just a touch. And rules like that already exist because if it had went through to the keeper he would have been allowed to pick it up because it was not a deliberate.

No they didn't, Garcia only makes an attempt to play the ball because he knows Mbappe is there, in an offside position, meaning he is interfering with play and therefore offside.

Yeah that's one I'm pretty sure is open to interpretation. A different set of officials could easily have given that. The rule isn't great, but I think the officials have interpreted it wrongly.

Jambomo
Redknapp’s pronunciation of Benzema is really weird and very annoying. Edited October 10, 2021 by Jambomo

The replay official does not have to make a hard judgment about what is control and what isn't.

Rules according to the BBC, the last two apply to Mbappe for this goal.

How does the 2nd last one apply. Mbappe was not attempting to play the ball when Garcia was playing the ball Mbappe's run had no impact on the ability of Garcia to play the ball.
