Very surprised by some of the moves played, very unlike the few times we've played in the past. I tried something different and it completely backfired to the point of embarrassment. Decided to fall on my sword as I was disgusted with myself. Very well played.

I learned that a wee while ago so knew not to take bishop.

Don't know what I was up to those first 10 games. More dramatic change in form than Falkirk.

DeeTillEhDeh
Elrohana beats PnBMathematics - resignation. A much better performance by my opponent - opened well - middle-game let him down with a couple of errors that left me to pick off his pieces.

Some irl stuff has come up which means I'm not going to have the time to fulfill my matches. Sorry @Frank Grimes and thanks everyone for the matches This post really brings things into perspective. Really sorry to hear about him.

Curmudgeon
In division B Board_stupid defeats Strachanovski by checkmate. I had the better of the opening which made it an uphill battle for @Bigmouth Strikes Again, although I needed to be wary of his aggressive counter attacks, managing to force mate.

If you take the kingside pawn with the knight, thinking you're forking the queen and rook, you lose. That's what most people are bound to do in that situation. If you take the loose knight in the centre, I immediately recover. If you take the pawn with the bishop, I'm screwed. Which is what you did.

Yeah, I spotted the checkmate trap you lined up - I had a brief phase of trying the Traxler countergambit (another fierce anti-fried liver tactic, except it involves a bishop sacrificing itself on f2) and so I know the drill - if it looks like the bad guy's wise to the queen/rook fork, you check with the bishop instead, force that king to block the queen, and then leg it with your stolen f7 pawn. Edit: Come to think of it, if I take the knight, you do more than recover, you win a piece by pawn-forking the knight and bishop. Trogdor
Oooft, fried liver and traxler counter. I used to know these lines before I joined the dark side and started playing d4.
pleslie99
Pleslie beats RBwatson by checkmate. @EvilScotsman blundered a queen early on and never really recovered. Decent game. Happy to stop the rot.
