I got a new PC at the start of the year but using my old Samung monitors (which are fairly standard 24in HD ones). I have been tempted though to replace one of them with a 4K monitor for gaming purposes mostly.

Any recommendations either to buy or even avoid?

Have you got the gfx card capable of playing 4k at a decent frame rate?

If not, you might be better off spending the money getting better quality monitors with a lower resolution.

I have a 3070.
So, yes... kind of!

As far as I know the 3070 still has a bit of a trade off at 4k between quality and frame rate. In other words, it's not going to run new games at 4k and max settings.

Up to you, a bit, whether you are that bothered about 4k and are prepared to compromise on settings, if required.

I still think you'd be better with a really good 1440p monitor to be honest. Apparently the wide aspect ones are really good for gaming.

Do you have a 4k TV you can use to try out the card and get an idea of how it looks?

The other thing to consider, I guess, is future proofing. It might be worth paying for a good 4k monitor now even if you don't get the full benefit of it just now.
