Sortmeout Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 I was originally going to only post this about Northern Ireland but thought I would throw Scotland in as well. **appreciate that players play for both club and country just be creative in your thinking** Looking at the N. Ireland team and squad for their game with Cyprus last night I was asking myself how good a job their team would do against Kilmarnock or other Premiership clubs. I don’t think that Northern Ireland could win our league although I would fancy them for a top 4 finish. Moving onto Scotland I’m sure that our NT would win our league especially with good strength in defence and midfield if everyone is fit. Could potentially be outgunned by Celtic and Rangers of course due to our lack of options up front. Robertson, Tierney, McGinn and McTominay the standouts for Scotland of course and nobody in the league really on their level. 1 Quote
Albus Bulbasaur Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 (edited) Lmao no. They'd be lucky to make the top half of the split. Edited June 6, 2022 by Albus Bulbasaur 0 Quote

craigkillie Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Scotland would win the Premiership I reckon. We have the best goalkeeper in the league and the best midfielder in the league, and then in Robertson, Tierney, McGinn and Gilmour we have four players who would be absolute standouts in this division, even before we consider someone like McTominay who is clearly excellent but hasn't quite found his place. You're then looking at Che Adams probably only being behind Morelos and Kyogo in terms of a forward. 7 Quote
Henrik's tongue Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Would finish: Celtic Scotland Rangers 1 Quote
Dons_1988 Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 No, on the basis Scotland are absolutely useless in any game theyre expected to win, so relegation beckons. 2 Quote
Bogbrush1903 Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 It would interesting to see how many fans Scotland would attract to Hampden under these circumstances. The home support would probably be akin to Queen's Park. 0 Quote
Dundee Hibernian Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Given the referees appointed by the SFA, I reckon Northern Ireland would stand a better chance than Scotland. 11 Quote
Donathan Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Scotland would win the league by 10 points. NI would probably be borderline top six. 0 Quote
LIVIFOREVER Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 (edited) No. Even applying it to England winning the English Premier League, most of their star Premier League players are foreigners, so i doubt they'd win it either. They'd obv have to replace the English players in their top teams, but i don't see that being a problem, plenty of other foreign players about of equal or better standard. In a National team versus a Country's league, you're basically choosing from a pool of a world XI v the best of any particular Country, and i think the world XI would win every time. Les Cabbage Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Buzzing to see the Scottish cloning programme kick off with Calum McGregor and Craig Gordon. Creg Gordons has to sign for Hibs for fairness. 0 Quote

You’re not choosing a world XI, Scotland would be playing st Mirren and Motherwell. 0 Quote

England has one of the best leagues in the world and therefore all of their best national team players already play there. That isn't remotely true of us - most of Scotland's best players play in that same English league, which is clearly better than ours. 0 Quote
