Can we still get players over 21 on loan?.The Coogans loan has now ended.Waste of money the boy never got a chance. Why sign him on loan if no intention of playing him.

Sure someone previously mentioned he was homesick and was sent on loan so he could live back at home. Unlikely we were paying any of his wages I think.

Surely if he is out on loan he should be getting some game time too though?

Why? What's wrong with taking someone in on loan to have a look at them and provide a bit of cover in the squad? Particularly if we're not paying his wages and doing the player and his parent club a favour at the same time.

Can't really argue with that in all honesty, just thought he might have got a bit more action but fowler thought differently.

Couple of decent signings & a free transfer for mcwatt should see you boys put in a good push for 4th...fancy you to overhaul rovers...& in all probability set up the same first play off game from 2 years ago....on a sidenote I'm sure most of you like I am are astonished how bad Durnan has been ...him & holt were the two queens players I rated highest in the games against us

Durnan does seem to have come up short to a startling degree.

In truth though, a slackness had entered his game last season, which has obviously not translated well to the demands of the top league.

For all that we had several good young players last season, I was slightly surprised that absolutely all of them moved on in the summer. I think it's fair to say that none of them have been unqualified successes, but some have done better than others.

Durnan was always noticeably poorer without the experience of Dowie or Higgins alongside him. I'm no expert but I believe United have been playing a young defence all season, in front of an inexperienced goalkeeper, perhaps a bit of experience would pay dividends for them. Far be it for me to claim to know better than their own supporters, but for them to be in the predicament they are in takes more than just Mark Durnan to be under-performing. He is still young, and plays a position where you don't really hit your peak until you are much older. I am still fairly confident he can perform at a high level, but it might require a step back for him to take a step forward.

Interestingly, a friend of mine who only ever attends one or two Queens games a season used to always question the hype regarding Durnan saying he was never particularly impressed. Perhaps having been brought up on a culture of Jim "woosh" Thomson we have found ourselves over-hyping Durnan because he had the audacity not to punt the ball at the first opportunity. There is a fine line between coolly playing the ball out of defence, and being too casual in possession and giving it away.

Excellent to see Gavin Reilly making his mark in recent weeks, his was easily the bravest move of the lot and I'm glad it is working out for him.

Andy Ryan is training with us last I heard.

In today's paper kyle Hutton says he is happy at Queens and is looking to stay for the rest of the season and possibly beyond, he also says he is happy that he is playing regularly now, but also states that him and fowler haven't spoke yet

Those aren't exactly outstanding stats assuming Wiki is to be trusted.

I know if Heffernan leaves we'll be a striker down but I don't really see it as a priority position. We already have a hard working striker who is unproven at this level on the books in the shape of Smith. Given a choice I'd prefer him to be given more game time than us blooding a player only for Hamilton's benefit.

My bad, I assumed it was a loan. I had also forgotten about Coogans departure.

Bearing both of those in mind I suppose it would be a fairly low risk punt that would be worth taking. Signing another injury prone player wouldn't be the most advisable thing to do, but he'd be behind Lyle, Russell, Oliver, Hilson and possibly Smith in the pecking order anyway you'd imagine.

I think the signing of a striker will purely come down to how Hilson gets on the 7th with the specialist. If he's close to return I really don't see a huge need for another striker. A right back even though lewis Kidd has started making that position his own is more important, same with probably a more creative midfielder but Millar is starting to show signs he could be that man and tapping isn't far away.

After last 3 or 4 games, I've seen signs that we're starting to get somewhere. I'd rather we waited to sign the right players now than panicking like we did with heff.

Unless Hooper goes out on loan I dont see the point in signing a right back. I agree about a creative midfielder, but I would say we need more options/cover in the wide areas, rather than centrally. We only really have Harris and Russell in the squad who are "genuine" wide players.

Well I've heard from a few people that they plan to send hooper out on loan, but only if they get someone in.

I see Brad McKay is being touted for a loan move, surely wouldn't be a bad signing. To allow hooper out and get some needed game time
