The Queen of the South thread

I write them and post them from information provided by Eddie Warwick. I'm not (usually) at the games and I wasn't at that one.

Thanks, in that case it makes perfect sense now in the way the last few games have been reported.

I don't think 2 or 3 quid is going to change people's minds very much to watch a glorified friendly. People are busier in the summer and with the Commonwealth games on, the attendance would be pretty pish anyway. Pretty much highlights how terrible an idea summer football is.

It's certainly changed me from a probably going to definitely not going. Ridiculous price for this stage of Challenge & League cups. Of course, both teams must agree on the price but I wonder if Elgin or Livingston would have been so keen on £16 if they were at home?

Why is this QOS' fault? It's not up to them to check the schedule of the opposition prior to agreeing to the game. The fault here is squarely with Rotherham. It doesn't take a genius to work out that, unless you have a squad of about 25 players, that playing two games in two days is going to be tough.

Complete and utter contempt and disrespect shown by the Rotherham management towards QOS and both sets of fans.

Taken from the OS:

U20's Clinch Jim Kerr Memorial Cup

The u20`s visited Nithsdale Wanderers to play for the Jim Kerr Memorial Cup on Wednesday evening. The young Queens team started brightly, knocking the ball around and testing their opponents on what was a tight pitch and bobbly surface. Queens showed their intentions after just two minutes when Dylan Neill broke clear and forced an excellent save from the goalkeeper. They soon took the lead when good hold up play by Jake Pickard sent Dean Brotherston through one on one with the keeper and he made no mistake on 11 minutes. The lead was doubled seven minutes later when Aidan Smith produced a cool finish from 18 yards and two became three on 25 minutes with a fine run the length of the park by Jake Pickard. However, before the interval, a fine rally from Nithsdale saw them pull two goals back and the teams turned around with the score 3-2.

Queens defended very well in the second period with Danny Armstrong not having a shot to deal with, so solid was the back line. Pressure on the Nithsdale back line eventually told with substitute Nick Cassidy adding a 4th goal near the end.

The young side`s next match is against Junior League opposition on Wednesday 30th July, away to Lugar Thistle.

As a matter of interest does anyone know who writes the U20 reports ?

I can only assume the board are expecting small crowds and trying to maximise income.

Also most likely a small drop in price possibly wouldn't have made much difference to attendances.

Certainly not impressed with the ticketing prices for either the Livingston game a team who we will face at least 4 more times this season or the Elgin match no disrespect to them but lower league opposition. The crowds during this time of year are traditionally very low with school holidays, the wickerman and the Dumfries show a little bit of forward thinking might have attracted a few more on the gates.

Have to agree with this. The prices are way too high .At the start of the season you are looking to get floating/new fans in the door and maybe get them attending during the rest of the season. This isn't the way to do it.Having paid £10 watch a youth team last week , I will not be attending either of these games.

Great piece of forward thinking from Hearts .

Fife derby and Hearts v Annan £10 and we have the cheek to charge £16 for a game we will see another 4 times maybe more depending on other cup draws.

Eta I know livi and Elgin do have a say in things but I think we could of insisted on a maximum of say £12.

Probably old news but no QoS league games affected by TV scheduling in September.

Good.

I wish to spend the season watching games at 3pm of a Saturday; while simultaneously bemoaning the fact that we're being neglected by our Central belt-centric media.
