The Queen of the South thread

Im not ignoring the point. To be honest, its not really much of a point that its worthy of discussion.

It was your comparison with Germany and "a lot of points" that I was suggesting is wrong. Unless 4, is "a lot"?

Alright pissy pants.

If my point is not worth discussing, stop discussing it.

I said it was "a bit like" the Scotland situation whereby people wanted to write off some games in their analysis, because they featured difficult opposition. I think that as with the Queens analysis, that's misleading and daft.

I said one situation was "a bit like" the other. I wasn't claiming they were identical. Things that are likened to one another because they share common ground, can also be quite different too, you know. It's allowed.

ETA - I get the feeling you're taking it a lot more seriously than I was though

Some stats I noticed when updating my files tonight.

James Fowler has now been in charge for 46 league games, one short of Kenny Brannigan's total. Brannigan however managed 18 wins and 12 draw from his 47 games (66 pts). Fowler has 21 wins and 10 draws for 73 pts.

In terms of our recent managers and number of games in charge Fowler is closing in on 4th

John Connolly 142 games

Gordon Chisholm 97

Ian McCall 58

Iain Scott 50

Kenny Brannigan 47

James Fowler 46

Jim McIntyre 40

Allan Johnston 37

Gus MacPherson 35

Stuart Lovell 2

Even 3rd isn't a million miles away.

I suppose we have had quite a turnover, given that it's been a period primarily of success.

An argument could be constructed to say that only Scott was really and truly dismissed from the above list.

In various ways though, Gus, Brannigan and it's claimed, McCall were kinda sacked too.

They were as "kinda sacked" as Scott was except they got to the end of a season (game short in Gus' case) but you knew that and we have been over that before. In contrast Connolly, Chisholm, Johnston and McIntyre were head-hunted by bigger clubs. The first two failed in those jobs and havent managed since. Johnston ultimately did too but seems to be doing a decent job at Dunfermline now. McIntyre has been a great success at County so far though. Interesting to see if he can keep it up long enough for County to achieve something tangible or for himself to be head-hunted upward again.

If Fowler is still our manager at the end of the season he will have moved to 3rd in the list for this millennium.

I know we've done the McCall situation to death, but the Gus one was slightly different again wasn't it?

Was he not offered an extension in Feb/March despite our predicament?

Do you think Fowler will not be our manager at the end of the season ?

Judging by the recent reaction when our results and form dipped, Fowler doesn't seem to carry a lot of goodwill among a sizeable section of our fans, despite having been pretty successful up to that point.

On that basis I would say its unlikely that he will still be here next season.

He seems to have decent managerial qualities though, and could go on to be successful elsewhere.

If we manage to stay out of trouble this season, I wouldn't anticipate any great clamour for his removal either though. I reckon there's a good chance he'll be here for a while.

As the record posted by SD shows, our managers tend to leave when perceived to be doing well: Connolly, Chisholm, Johnston, McIntyre, or when they're perceived to be doing rubbish: Scott and McPherson.

Fowler does not appear to be an arsehole in a McCall or Brannigan way either, so that should ensure that his meh performance keeps him here for a while.
