lichtie23
Iv no idea how the Bills will be in the right mental space to play while the Bengals game has yet to be scheduled as well. It’s all a bit of a mess. The Winner of the Titans - Jags win the AFC South. If the Seahawks beat the Rams and the Packers lose to the Lions they are in A Patriots win see’s them into the playoffs. The Dolphins need the Pats to lose and then halt their dreadful form and beat the Jets. If the Eagles beat the Giants they secure the number 1 seed in the NFC. If they lose and the Cowboys win then the Cowboys win the NFC East dropping the Eagles to the number 5 seed. The 49ers and Vikings can also secure the number 1 seed if Philly lose. A Chiefs win and Bills loss secured the AFC number 1 seed for KC. If both teams win then the Bills-Bengals game (if played) will determine the top seed. Brummie Clyde
I don't think the Vikes can get the no. 1 seed, as they lost to the Eagles and are a game behind. Even if the Cowboys won the NFC East, then they also beat the Vikes and both have better Conference records. Vikes are gonna be 2 or 3 seed.

Donathan
It’s a weird quirk of the tiebreak rules. When you have a 3-way with two of the teams being in the same division and the third being in a different division, you first break the tie within the division. So in the current 3-way tie at 8-8, first compare the Lions and Packers, which the Lions come out on top of due to their head to head win over Green Bay. Then you compare the Lions to the Seahawks, and Seattle comes out on top due to beating the Lions. So the Seahawks currently possess the 7th seed, and will do so if all three of these teams finish with the same record (but that can only happen in the extremely unlikely event that both the Rams/Seahawks and Lions/Packers games this weekend are tied) In a straight two way tiebreaker at 9-8 between the, the Packers would be in due to having a conference record of 7-5 whereas the Seahawks would be 6-6. So that’s why the Packers are win and in. Packers need: Win Seahawks need: Win + Packers loss/tie OR tie + Packers tie Lions need: Win + Seahawks loss/tie

Vikings can only get the 2 seed with a win and a 49ers loss. If the Vikings lose or the Niners win, Vikings will be the 3 seed and will host the G Men on wildcard weekend. Tampa are guaranteed to host the NFC East runner up on wildcard weekend. That could either be the Cowboys (if they lose to the Commanders OR if the Eagles beat the Giants), or the Eagles (if they lose to NYG and the Cowboys win) Looking like the NFC wildcard games will be: Packers/Seahawks/Lions at 49ers Giants at Vikings Cowboys at Buccaneers

If they have spoken to the Bills, along the lines of ‘he would want you to go out there and do it for him’ etc, then they may be able to use that as some sort of way to pull together. Going to be tough though.

Brummie Clyde
Personally I'm going to be gripped by the Clash of the Shitans between Texans and Colts. Although, if Packers do make the Playoffs, it would be nice to see them lose to the San Francisco *Bears 49ers again.

It’s all a bit of a mess. It's easy to say this from outside looking in, but these players have grown up playing a sport where every play carries the risk of a career ending or life changing injury. To get to the elite level where these guys are now requires a level of mental ability to block that out. Now the immediate shock of seeing someone receive CPR in front of them has passed, the realisation that it was a freak incident (something that hadn't happened in 50 years) will take over. This isn't meant to be callous, but, whilst I don't see Hamlin playing again, his long term prognosis is likely much better than had he suffered a catastrophic head or neck injury, and we'd not be having anything like the level of discussion about how either team could possibly play if he'd suffered either of them. The way of moving forward, they usually say, is to focus their efforts on "winning it for x" and I imagine this will be the same here. The only way I can see it not being played is if A - the outcome impacts only the Bengals and Bills seedings, and B - the Bills elect to forfeit the game. It would not be fair to the Bengals to hand Buffalo an advantage in their potential Divisional Round game by cancelling the game by asking them to accept a Tie as they'd just be made out to be dicks if they insisted on playing.

Boo Khaki
Chargers have to match the Ravens result to secure #5, so if the Bengals win that I think the starters will sit most of the game in Denver, whereas a Ravens win will mean they wont be able to do that unless the game is already won.
