Pinatar Cup

Recommended Posts

Three games over the week: Iceland, Philippines  and Wales.

Iceland game is currently on Alba and Scotland having plenty of the ball.  Pedro clearly forgot the 'coo's erse with banjo' graphic from his team talk as the finishing has been woeful.

Really think Pedros time is up. We have been pretty awful for ages and appear to be continuing to regress….

He should have gone after the RoI debacle in October.  He has a pretty decent group of players to work with but can't get a tune out of them.

Was about to complain about the commentator continually mentioning that the lassie is someone's daughter. Not realising that's how a lot of the girls' names sound

That's their naming convention.

"A man named Jón Einarsson has a son named Ólafur. Ólafur's last name will not be Einarsson like his father's; it will become Jónsson, indicating that Ólafur is the son of Jón (Jóns + son). The same practice is used for daughters. Jón Einarsson's daughter Sigríður's last name would not be Einarsson but Jónsdóttir. Again, the name means "Jón's daughter" (Jóns + dóttir)."

There's today's fun fact.

First half domination and then 2 sucker punch goals early in the second half. 20 shots all game by us compared to Icelands 3 which they scored 2 goals from. The likes of Weir and Cuthbert arent the same players internationally that they are domestically. 3 and a half years of decline

Wales v Philippines has been poor so far. Wales should be ahead though. Youd hope Scotland would be able to beat these 2 teams but after today I'm taking nothing for granted

Yup ,another shambolic performance . Chaotic when put under pressure at the back ,lacking creativity and composure in and around the opponents box . Very slow build up ,too many passes backwards or sideways . Didn’t think it was possible but Pedro has taken us backwards from the latter Shelly Kerr era . We have 6 or 7 excellent players but they are not playing to their full potential while the rest of the squad look bang average , that’s despite the SFA flying them to all sorts of diddy wee tournaments ,at great expense , to try to develop an effective style of play .

Am beginning to agree that they have a brass neck moaning about not being flown to tournaments in private jets and put up in five star hotels .

Dreadful stuff all round so far in this game today

Scotland are no better than the Philippines on this showing.  And the Philippines appear to be full of ringers.

Was late home so missed the first 15 mins but we were woeful for the 30 mins I watched.  Even the reliable Jenny Clarke - having a great season for City -looked ropey.  Better after the break and the changes have made a difference.  Still not great, though.

Mostly Filipino-Americans - girls brought up in the USA thus used to high school and college football.  Which is fair enough.  They're better than their 53 FIFA ranking but I can't see them doing much in the World Cup.
