East Fife vs Elgin

Recommended Posts

Looking forward to a Friday night game myself. Nightmare for Elgin players and fans though. I remember we tried to experiment with this some years ago, mustve been around 1997-1998, as I was working in a job then, when I didnt get a saturday off, so it meant i was able to attend, QOS seems to ring a bell.

Great that we can get the Scotland game, fair play to whoever's idea this is. Both Fife & Scotland to win 2-0.

3 defeats from 3 v East Fife this season so far. Presumably there is an agreement with Dundee regarding Tom Findlay as while everyone else in his position has been in and out of the team he starts every game despite offering nothing.

Another step towards what feels like the inevitable relegation to the highlands league. There can be no complaints either - this team is nowhere near the standard required for this league. East Fife well worth the win but I think we could well lose every game remaining without even scoring a goal so a comfortable win should be the least other teams expect.

Average first half but alot better second. Elgin should have scored atleast 1 but not for good goalkeeping/defending.

We looked solid enough but never really cut Elgin open. Our 2 goals tonight were as typical as ever with a header from a corner and a penalty. Something we will not get away with in League 1.

I thought Shepherd was brilliant tonight. Absolutely ran his socks off and regularly got change from the centre backs. McManus had his best game so far and never looked fazed. Denholm was a handful as well.

3 points now puts us in a great position but as mentioned before, League 1 is a different ball game.

The atmosphere tonight was great and that should be the standard if we want to attract new fans.

Mon the Fife!

A good all round team performance every player worked their socks off for the 3 points. Elgin made it tough they never gave us much room and they were never out the game until we got the 2nd goal. Was impressed with Sam Denham at the back looks a good prospect as this is only his first full season at this level. A great header from a corner for the opener by Steel. Elgin started the 2nd half well and upped the tempo and created a couple of half chances but our back line was excellent. Penalty was a daft challenge by Mchardy as Shephard wasn’t going anywhere he just came through the back of him. Trouten calm as you like sends the keeper the wrong way. Friday night football proved popular with the fans as the biggest crowd at Bayview for a while. Fair play to Greig McDonald he has really turned things around he certainly has got the boys fighting for each other. Another tough fixture next week with Annan visiting Methil . A big deal in the run in for 3rd and 4th place.

Don't tease me, we've still got to play you twice.

Personally, I thought we were better the first half, we were on top the whole time, but without taking advantage of this, you worry itll cone back to bite us. That opportunity at the end of the first half, clawed off the line and then against the outside of the post on another night wouldve seen us in level at the break. Elgin looked more compact the second. Deserved win though. Fair play to any elgin fans making the way down on a friday night.

Great atmosphere, seemed a great crowd too. Section A never stopped, hopefully more Friday games in the future.

Aye. Thought we were utterly dominant in the first half, but failure to convert that to goals and a bit of a let off just before half time could have seen us going in level. Elgin's best spell was the beginning of the second half but we weathered the mini storm and saw the game out really well.

It could have been more but I thought that was one of our best performances of the season. A lot of very good individual performances as well. Don't want to get too carried away but it does look like we're hitting form at a very good time.

Great credit to the 5 over 21's who played last night.I thought that Messrs Fleming,McManus,Trouten,Shepherd, and Stewart Murdoch were all magnificent. In recent games both Slattery and Pagey have contributed massively.

I have seen EF play a lot better than last night  but onwards and upwards.
