Yeah they usually try and keep the drivers within the business and retrain them into another role, they have a lot of experience of the safety systems etc and can slot quite easily into a different job. Some of the shunters at Shields Road are ex train drivers, which is probably one of the most cushty jobs you can get working in a depot. Obviously we all wish it never happened but I think if you spent any length of time as a train driver it’s almost inevitable that an incident like this will happen to you, as sad as that is. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
