No to B teams

Recommended Posts

Btw, what absolute arrogance to frame the failure of the conference league as the SFA letting them down by withdrawing the proposal over showing at minor degree of humility and acknowledging their complete failure to get any support support from fellow clubs.

Toys out the pram from rangers 😂

Think their statement shows what full of shite they really are and how they are only interested in getting a foot in the professional league for their B team.

Part of their official statement. Rangers state, 'Scottish FA and its CEO, Ian Maxwell, who recognizes, the clear, beneficial impact B teams have on top international sides. For 18-21 year old's footballers, our research and evidence clearly shows the best path for the development is playing professional football in professional leagues. A Conference league would have been a positive move towards that .'

They also state they will do everything  via continuing discussions with the governing bodies to work out the best path.

If the clubs in the  Lowland don't realize they will be used and then FU^"£d again then there's no hope for our football.
Rangers have threw their toys out of the pram and left the Lowland League because they cant get what they want. So they are quite happy just to feck the B teams players chances by not playing in a competitive league for another year.  Total and utter assholes who do not care about youth development.

Next Season, the Lowland League clubs should do the best thing for Scottish Football and Vote the B teams out of the Lowland league.
These young lads need a reserve league, that is the best way for them to develop, playing against and with first team players who are needing game time, coming back from injury or needing sharpness etc...  The lessons these young lags could learn from playing beside and against these first team players is just un measurable. There is also the extra advantage is to loan the young players out even if they are with Rangers or Celtic in a reserve league.  means the clubs can dictate which level or division is best for their player and loan them out into such.

It was a bad idea. I'm surprised that enough clubs stood against it - usually chairmen struggle to see beyond a short term financial sticking plaster. But the correct decision was to oppose the conference and B teams and I'm glad Scottish football did so.

The reaction by Rangers is funny as hell. Throwing the toys out the pram despite Beale being doubtful that the B team route was the right way to develop players. Scottish football exists as more than just the play thing of the old firm. Rangers care nothing about our game. Rangers fans routinely celebrate the struggles of the national side. Buses and cars leave from all parts of Scotland, passing many a community club ground on their way. This was never about progressing Scottish football and Rangers fans are not the people best qualified to talk about whats holding our game back.

From what I can remember on the talk at Stenhousemuir about the proposal I am sure that it was mentioned that a Company had been set up for the Conference League proposal and that certainly Doncaster was on the board and possibly Maxwell as well.  Whole thing stunk.

Here's the company, with the 2 officers listed, as set up 5 weeks ago:

https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/SC768587/officers

Calum Beattie and Neil Doncaster, SPFL employees, COO and CEO respectively, almost incongruously the directors of an organistaion the SFA in the shape of Maxwell declared they were setting up.

I think they had mapped out a plan, along with the OF, to integrate the Conference into the SPFL a year or two down the line. This is reinforced by the Ibrox statement last night:

"Rangers has long been a strong advocate for the introduction of B Teams in the professional leagues of Scottish football, with a Conference League being an excellent step in that direction."

I wonder if the SFA and Maxwell were presenting details from Ibrox rather than their own research in their 5 page Conference League document, as the Ibrox statement also claims "our research and the evidence clearly shows the best path for their development is playing professional football in professional leagues" as the statement contains the same inaccurate drivel presented by Ian Maxwell.

There's a big interview with Caledonian Braves boss Ricky Waddell in the Herald today, where he argues Colt teams should be able to get promoted.

Now. Aside from the obvious reaction to this (GTF) I would also like to point out this line that caught my eye. From talking to people around DFC, Rangers were apparently quite surprised by the lack of interest and crowds. It's why they had to post pictures from angles that didn't show the stand on social media posts about the B team.

Quote

We played Rangers B at Dumbarton in their last game of the season. They were close to the top of the league. But it was a nothing game and there were about 50 people there. If they had the chance to win the league and promotion I am sure it would have been a sell-out."

How about. Instead of having Rangers B fannying about in the league, Caley Braves played someone like Pollok on the last day of the season. A proper club, with their own ground and their own fans. If it's bigger crowds he's wanting at games, then he's looking for first teams in the league. Not B teams.

Not a surprise at all either than nobody turns up to watch a team in an Old Firm kit when there's no chance of them lifting a trophy at the end of the year either, eh?

The Herald has been running this story this week.  It started with a dollop of familiar crap from Mark Wotte (remember him ?), followed by a great rebuttal from Craig Telfer, Stenny fan and host of 'View From The Terrace' in which he articulated just about everything that's been written on here.

I haven't read today's article but I'm assuming the pro B Team lobby will be given the final word in such a grovelling paper.

If we're deciding where teams go based on number of fans then Caley Braves can f**k off down to the lower levels of the WoSFL where they belong.

Here is the piece featuring Mr @Francesc Fabregas for anyone who cares to have a gander…
