Third Division 23/24

Lanark 1 Kilsyth 0

A few forced changes from last week which saw us perform not as fluently against good opposition. Their number 7 is a handful.

Big Gracie missed 2 excellent first half chances, one of which was offside, IMO. Kilsyth also had a decent chance well saved by our keeper.

Our goal came in the first 30 seconds of the 2nd half after a complete miscue fell nicely for us. Thought the introduction of Chucky Watt improved us as we had more options up front.  Our big CB ( not Liam)  , whose name I don't know yet was excellent.

Played the last 20 with 10 men and did the rarest of things for a Lanark team and held on to a 1 goal lead.  First league win of the season.

Lesmahagow 3 Glasgow United 2

Score flattered United. Gow 1-0 up at half time, opposition offered little and we should have added to our lead.

United did up things a bit second half, after Gow went up 2-0.  United got ot a goal back. Then we scored a screamer from 20 yards 3-1.

Then the strangest penalty ever. Gow player put hand up to claim ball was out. United player blasted it said raised hand.

Referee gave penalty, later admitted he didn't know if it was out or not. He was over officious and card happy throughout.

The Gow should have put this game out if sight long before creeping over the line at 3-2.

Threave 0-1 Bellshill

a great hard fought win on the road for Bellshill a very competitive game with Bellshill having the better of the chances in the first half and threave having the upper hand in the second half but a goal from Kyle caig with seven minutes to play saw us take the points back up the road

what a venue to play football in an outstanding set up at threave with a fantastic club house and a pitch like a bowling green

And another one bites the dust. John Barr who we also did not get the opportunity to see much of due to injury. Very encouraging to his colleagues from the bench, to be fair. Vocal is what we need as we are too quiet, IMO

John Cunningham, Ryan Whitley, Colin Leverage and Reece Clark have also been released.

Believe JC has signed for Cumbernauld where they will get a grafter up front. He put in a shift for us this season prior to the changes.

Ryan will be best remembered as a guy who converted to CB from midfield but coming on as an injured sub in goal and saving a penalty to enable us to hold on at Dairy last season.

Returned from holiday to learn that Cammy Marshall has left Lanark, at his own request. This is very disappointing news as he has been our top player over that past season and is a great prospect. Understand he may have pitched up at Cumbernauld.  Definitely taken the shine off us re-signing Kieran Brennan and Scott Nicol from Wishaw.

Kello 2 Lanark 4

Well deserved victory which we made hard work of and only settled in the final seconds.

Gk, both CB's,  Jack Currie, Kieran Brannan all out injured (those that I know of) and Fraser Allan on holiday, added to the midweek departure of Cammy Marshall saw a much changed Lanark team which included the manager on the bench. Came on as a 2nd half sub alongside Jordan Fraser and both had an impact.

The Kello keeper, Dunsy, has to be one of the best around. He is a unit. Consistently good. Just a pity his kicking isn't so good. Made a number of excellent saves today.

The Kello steak pie gets my award of the day however. I can't believe there is a better pie in the Juniors. A bargain at £2.50. I'll admit to having a mince pie too.

Glasgow United 3

Greenock Juniors 2

3 points was a must with all other league teams on cup duty....

job done but not the best of games... won with ten men(never a red card ),our keeper saved a penalty ,we scored a penalty to make it 2-1 Greenock scored straight after kick off after we switched off and then Goodwillie scored a last minute winner with neat finish....shit game ..but 3 pts....

El Classico, Old Firm and Milan derby doesn't have a look in this weekend.

As Lesmahagow v Lanark United face off at Fortress Craighead.

Ex Gow player, Darryl Meikle now at the helm at Lanark with most of the ex Lesmahagow AFC team in toe.

Should be a cracker. Mon The Gow.
