This is what they really need.

I.R. are a bunch of charlatans.  What they actually need is the expertise of W.A.S.P.

Although slight problem just now seeing as Troy and his crew are also in San Diego for the Blink 182 show.

I would not joke about it any more now

Plenty air left and they're only just starting to look underwater. Unless it's already popped of course, in which case it's more of a "too soon" thing.

It's not good for those involved and their families, but does this really deserve nearly 10 minutes of coverage at the start of the BBC news, given everything else that's going on in the world at the moment.

There's British rich people involved. Of course it's top of the BBCs agenda

Where have they been looking up till now? In space?

(Though apparently the British billionaire did fly aboard one of those suborbital trips.)

The whole design of the craft looks like it was built in a shed from a water tank, a PlayStation and a fan. f**k that.

Not tethered to a vessel, with no constant communication or location beacon. f**k that.

No fail safes of inflatables or emergency signaling system. f**k that.

Who would think that is ever a good idea?

They didn't have specialised sonar or robot subs till now, they've been hoping it's bobbing on the surface.

I saw the papers headlines this morning, most of which are along the lines of 'BRIT ON MISSING TITANIC SUB', and thought that there's not really all that much different between that and the old (urban myth) P&J Titanic headline of 'NORTH-EAST MAN DROWNS AT SEA'.

Even if it did bob to the surface, they are still in an enclosed tank, with no way of getting out. f**k that.

This submarine seems really shite. The CBS reporter makes it sound like a tin can with an Xbox controller.

I'm at a loss for the word here for what this is.... But it really is something that we have a few mega rich people bored enough to want to go and gawp at the watery grave site of many hundreds of people who shouldn't have died, many of whom having did so because they were poor, now looking at joining them.

If I was that rich I'd rather have a go operating an ROV and mooching around the titanic with a whisky in hand from the comfort of the ship, rather than peering through a tiny port hole just above the shitter.

Absolutely spot on.

Also, sadly, spot on.

Just think of the VR experience £200k could provide controlling the ROV.

I got a bit addicted watching the live streams of BP trying to seal the well heads in the Mexican Gulf after Deepwater Horizon, even looked into how to get a job operating them.

There's a UKCS operator who very recently lost an ROV that's still on the seabed. I might be referring to BP, I might not.
