Jacksgranda
Linfield ease to a 3-1 win at the Coleraine Showgrounds. Glentoran see off Cliftonville - 4 points from their matches with Crusaders and Cliftonville isn't too bad. Loughgall are going to upset a few this season, 1-1 with only 10 men at Seaview. Ballymena lose again, again down to 10 men. hatchetman
Loughgall may well have turned in a good performance, but the Crues really can't afford to drop home points like this. The result took the gloss of a great day out in Greenock.

hatchetman
Given a good thrashing tonight. Out fought out thought and out muscled. I hate that back three with Billy Joe in the middle. My first league game this season and what a chastening experience.
Eednud
Just saw this about possible switch to a summer season. @Jacksgranda @hatchetman do you think it will happen? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66868717 Edited September 21, 2023 by Eednud
Jacksgranda
It's up to the clubs, I'm not sure how fans would feel about it, doesn't bother me, as I don't go anymore!
hatchetman
This has been knocking about for a while now. Heavily pushed by Gerard Lawlor apparently. Gerard has a solid Irish League background, so should have a notion of how this will be received. He's associated with Cliftonville so it being N I that'll be enough to get some peoples back up. I'm a season ticket holder so well used to standing in the rain and cold. Gerard's first job is not to loose current supporters. My evidence is purely anecdotal, but not one person in my circle of acquaintance's will attend matches based on this change. I expect any future changes won't be aimed at my generation. I'm happy with the way things are at the moment, but I wish Gerard well. If he gets this through we should send him up to Stormont. There's a clatter of t***s up there need sorted.
Stardog_champion
I’m all for Jim Magiltons Cliftonville. There is something special going on at Solitude. They could prove to be a thorn in the side of Glens and Linfield
Jacksgranda
I've been neglecting my duties, would need to bring this up to date, but Coleraine's preformance would scunner anybody. After a surprising win at the Oval (well, it surprised me), 2-1 to the Bannsiders, on 23rd September, Coleraine subsequently shipped 9 goals in their next 2 matches, 5-0 at Solitude and 4-0 at home to Crusaders. Kearney run out of ideas? Defending champions Larne beat Carrick 4-1, lost 1-0 at Loughgall who are having a great season and rolled over Glenavon at Mourneview, 4-0. Linfield won 2-0 at Loughgall, 2-0 at The international Windsor Park Arena against the Crues ,( @hatchetman )and 6-1 against Newry, also at The IWPA, to maintain their good run. Cliftonville ( @Stardog_champion ) won 2-0 at Ballymena, knocked 5 past Coleraine and drew 1-1 with Loughgall, who, as I have already said, are having a great season. Crusaders had a mixed bunch of results, a 2-0 win over Glenavon, then their loss to the Blues then their stroll in the park at the Coleraine Showgrounds. Newry City drew with the Swifts, 2-2, and then were walloped by Linfield 6-1. The Swifts drew at Newry, and lost at home to Ballymena, nearly a sacking offence. Ballymena lost to the Reds, then had that win at Stangmore. Glenavon lost at Seaview, and were thumped by Larne. Carrick crashed at Larne, and then beat Glentoran. And the Glens lost to Coleraine, and Carrick. Linfield top, 25 points from 10 games, second Larne P 10 pts 21, third on goal difference Cliftonville P 10 Pts 20 and fourth Crusaders P 10 Pts 20. Bottom four: ninth on goal difference Dungannon Swifts P 10 pts 7, tenth Glenavon P 10 Pts 7, eleventh Newry City P 10 Pts 7 and bottom Ballymena P 10 Pts 6 Goals from sundry games - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/66970772 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/66931726 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/66931713 League Cup results and reports - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67000841

(and we've been on the end of a hiding) You haven't mentioned moneybags Larne. The only thorn in the side of Glentoran is Glentoran. Good update Jacks. I missed it.
Jacksgranda
Good game last night between Linfield and Glentoran, over 7,000 at it. In a frantic opening 15 minutes I thought there's no way both teams are going to end the game with 11 players on the park, but it settled down. 2-0 to the Blues at half time, second half was a bit flat, Glentoran just couldn't find a way back. Larne and Crusaders drew 1-1, so the Blues were the big winners last night. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67036410

Unless Glentoran go on a magnificent run, they're out of it, I think. And even if the do go on a magnificent run, they'll find some way to mess it up. The relegation scrap is shaping up nicely, too. Another interesting season on the cards Edited October 9, 2023 by Jacksgranda

hatchetman
Cliftonville's wings clipped Stardog. Nice win for the Crues but Linfield well clear. But Coleraine..... Oh dear Jacks. And yes I was at Firhill. Up to the third goal anyway.
