Women's World Cup 2023

The England women's team get the same relentless 'LIKEABLE' branding from their media as the men's team, but the reality is they are an industrial team full of bams. Delighted to see them fail.

The men's team, with the likes of Pickford and their 'island race' coach (who apparently is LIKEABLE!!!), and collapsable-legs Kane (LIKEABLE!!!) get the same treatment from a country that is essentially uncomfortable with its image of itself and is trying to kid itself (and the rest of the world) into thinking it is LIKEABLE!!!

The national insecurity around race, nationalism, and gender issues are there for all to see in how the national teams are reported and viewed by the general public in England. It's LIKEABLE when they lose.

When the BBC were looking for pundits for the final, involved in women's football and knowledgeable about the game in Spain and England, I wonder if anyone ever briefly considered: how about Pedro thingy who manages Scotland? Or the guy at Celtic Women? Or Caroline Weir? She plays in Spain.

No, I don't think they did either.

To be fair, I’m not sure Pedro Thingamy is even knowledgeable about women’s football in Scotland.

The seethe about Spain's timewasting/shithousery is something else. England did it worse in their European championship final against Germany. I was at that game (bought tickets & booked a trip well in advance in the hope the Dutch would make it but thinking a final as a neutral is always good). And for that matter, I didn't once blame England for it because had The Netherlands reached the final I'd have wanted the same if we were winning.

Thank fcuk for that. Grew up in Paisley? Visited Paisley for a coffee once? Something along those lines?

Lived there a few years and went to Primary School there (though no one on the Paisley - oor wee toon Facebook site can remember her)
