Alberto Spencer
A very entertaining game today at Ainslie Park. Hearts B 3-2 Broomhill. Hearts created a lot of chances but Broomhill were never out of the game. Their big centre forward caused a bit of chaos in the Hearts defence though he did eventually get booked for one too many "batterings" . Mackenzie Ross created two goals for Hearts with Macauley Tait taking control in midfield in the second half. Tait's great through ball set up James Wilson for the opener and a good team goal for the second by Forrester had Hearts looking comfortable, Naivity in defence by Hearts saw Broomhill back in it with the two forwards combining well for 2-1 at HT. Hearts looked comfortable until Broomhill changed to hitting it long to their forwards and a well worked equaliser made it all to play for. Great play by Ross gave Wilson his second and Hearts looked comfortable for a while. Broomhill then missed two absolute sitters plus hit the bar in breakaways. Makenzie Kirk had five or six attempts at a "worldie" but might have been better passing a couple of times! The Broomhill bench had a slight meltdown at one point - personally I thought the ref was OK, if not ever going to officiate at a World Cup...... Still, a good game in hot conditions on a dry/dodgy plastic surface (needing watered?) where both teams had issues (fortunately no injuries).
lowenan
Really solid season for Hearts B, 3-3 away against tough opposition yesterday.
Alberto Spencer
Hearts B 6-0 Berwick Rangers this evening. Luke Rathie scored early from a rebound, Makenzie Kirk with 4 and Calum Sandilands scored the other. Berwick made a couple of catastrophic defensive blunders and their heads went down at 3-0. Kirk also missed a couple of easy chances that his Dad would have scored (even now...)
Alberto Spencer
Hearts 2 Celtic 1 tonight. Sandilands and Kirk for Hearts. Conditions were "tricky" but Hearts overcame them well enough for a deserved win.
Footballfirst
Celtic continued their insistence on playing the ball out from the back regardless of the risk (as they had done against Bo'ness last time out). This time they couldn't cope with the Hearts press and probably lost the ball more often than they managed to retain possession. Hearts are showing the benefit of last season's experience in terms of development. It's a pity that the first team coaching staff seem reluctant to trust any of them to play in the first team.
Alberto Spencer
A Friendly at Rangers Training Centre finished Rangers B 1-3 Hearts B. Arranged from Hearts' perspective largely so Craig Gordon could get a game in his comeback from injury. He was beaten by a late penalty (shock, a pen to Rangers!) but otherwise was not too troubled. Hearts goals by Sandilands, Kirk (penalty - another shock.....) and Tait in a comfortable victory. Aiden Denholm played from the 1st team squad along with Gordon but Aiden is still eligible for the B Team.
lowenan
Slightly surprising loss at home to University of Stirling this round. Still been a good season so far.
Alberto Spencer
3-1 win tonight at home to Gala. Another three goals for Makenzie Kirk. I'm not sure how many for the season now but at least 25. He might be a candidate for a January loan up the leagues now teams can see he can score goals.
Cowdenleith
Went along tonight as know one of the Gala players a little bit, decent enough game until later on when the rain made the ball splash about a bit on the Astro. Gala gave a good account of themselves, especially first half, though Hearts were firmly in control second half. All 3 Hearts goals were pretty scrappy close range efforts, didn’t realise Kirk had scored them all. Crowd was approximately 140 going by my head count, including some upstairs in the cafe area.

Kirk's hat trick came from a combined distance of about 9 yards, although I wouldn't have described any of the goals as scrappy, particularly the first.

Mmmm, none of them were things of beauty, he’s a fine prospect though. Pity they didn’t show the Gala goal, best one of the lot.
Alberto Spencer
Hearts B are at Ainslie Park tomorrow night against Edinburgh University. I expect Macauley Tait to start, as no first team game this week after his debut at Parkhead and home debut against St Mirren. The return from long term injury of Finlay Pollock (1st team sub very recently but didn't get on) may mean he is also included for this game. Great news to see him back as he's hardly played at all since his cameo in Istanbul where he created the Hearts goal. It just seems to have been one injury after another so fingers crossed for the lad.
