That’s an absolutely shite result. That’s three wins in a row for Elgin, against us. We must be about the only team they’ve beaten in 2023.

This will be their fourth league win in 2023 and like you say, three against us. The other was against Forfar in April.

Looks like it’s the fifth, with the other two against Forfar.

I wouldn't be placing any kind of emphasis on the win at the tail end of last season. We rotated the squad and it was really a nothing game for us. It was the chance for Elgin to avoid a possible play-off.

But this result today is unacceptable. Farrell doesn't fill me with any kind of confidence that he knows what he's doing or that we can actually put in a decent performance in more than 1 game.

We have a team to win  this league but we constantly under perform when it matters it seems. With a good manager we would win this league with a good bit to spare.

I really feel its time for a change.Too many bizarre line-ups and inconsistent performances. Today is a sore one no doubts.

That’s us now half way through September and Farrell still has absolutely no clue what his best 11 is. The poor performances outweigh the good ones this season.

Is it time to ditch the 352 and get our best players on the pitch? It just seems absolutely criminal to me that we have guys like Orsi and Ruth sitting on the bench whilst jobbers like Blair get a start. Starting with two midfielders up front whilst we have 3 strikers sitting on the bench is mind boggling to me.

This is the match thread and the fact is that no amount of whingeing from us alters the fact that Elgin won the game, and deservedly by all accounts.  It will be a long journey home for those who went up.

I think this result says more about us than Elgin.

Didn’t see that result coming but it was much needed. Under a lot of pressure early on but once we scored we looked more composed and actually played some decent football. It’s gonna be a long season so picking up 3 points when we play ok is vital! Dumbarton looked like a team capable of being in the mix at the good end of the league table but thankfully they were a little goal shy today!

Impressed with Blair McKenzie, Mitchell Taylor and Rory McEwan for Elgin today. Harvey got the man of the match and it was a cracking strike for his goal, wasn’t hugely impressed by him otherwise. Could almost visibly see the confidence lift in the City team once they took the lead and it was a much deserved victory. Sons the better team for the first 30 mins and had their chance that hit the post went in then it would have been a different match, second half they huffed and puffed but don’t think the City keeper had any meaningful saves to make.

Mitchell was my MOTM today. Didn’t shirk anything

That win was a pleasant surprise to me. Up until Elgin scored Dumbarton had a lot of the ball without really creating too much. A lot of square passing. Elgin scored out of the blue and then enjoyed a 10-15 minute spell in which they played some decent stuff. Second half was pretty even. All Elgin players put in a good shift. I thought McLennan was good, best I have seen from him and every time I see Ewan I am impressed, I think he has a decent future. Harvey goal was a great strike and he worked hard and was a nuisance all day. However if he wants to be a full time player he needs to get his head up and pass the ball more often. Perhaps trying too hard to impress the watching Neil Simpson.

Dumbarton will comfortably be in the play offs at least but as has been alluded to by some of their posters maybe lack a cutting edge. As for Elgin this can only be a confidence booster going into a big game against Clyde.
