Daft, riposte when you consider the state of Cappielow.

We've just cleared a Scottish Cup run worth over a million while Morton are struggling to pay their heating bill..

Go figure.

If your club are so wealthy why didn’t they spend big on their playing budget in the Summer? Then maybe you wouldn’t be bottom of the table. You were also in severe financial straits yourself prior to your cup run.

How did getting to the cup final net you a million quid?

Half a million for tv and prize money. Did you sell a lot of half and half scarves?

A fair chunk from the two pooled semi finals too. The sizeable Rangers, Celtic and Falkirk supports would have swelled their coffers.

Read again where I said a Scottish Cup run, Kilmarnock, Livingston and Falkirk in the semi.

Even without the prize money Tv rights alone are £180,000 split equally for each game up to the Final.

Maybe if Caley were so flush with cash they’d have been able to sign Chalmers instead of us.

Prize money isn't cumulative in the cup.

We would have been over a million in ticket revenue from the semis and final alone.

Not that it matters. Whatever we got from the Scottish cup run was used to cover our previous losses.

IF you did indeed make a million from the Scottish cup run then it would have been used to clear the debt you had.

As for struggling to pay a heating bill. You should know we don't put on the heating or the lights after your former managers meltdown a couple of seasons ago.

You're having a nightmare here you delusional fud.

I can’t believe anyone is suggesting that ICT is not a better option than Morton. Morton FFS.

As we’ve seen over the last 30 years Caley are a club who probably feel like they are a Premiership club stuck in the Championship whereas Morton are probably just happy to be in the Championship.

Theres a reason ICT have had the success they’ve had over the last 30 years whereas Morton’s biggest achievement in that time was seeing Falkirk relegated after they took their manager from them.

Morton are a League One/Championship yoyo diddy club. Even in the current state Inverness is a far better option.

I think we got up to £1.5m for it all together. Definitely no less then a million. Makes sense both OF teams made the Semis plus Falkirk who have a decent following & obviously Celtic had THOUSANDS of fans at the final plus we got all our fairweather and Casual fans out for 2 games all though nowhere to be seen now can hardly say I blame them.....

You also get a fair chunk of coin nowadays from television rights hence why you get like half a million for winning the League Cup. For teams outside the Old Firm that's quite a lot of money.

That appears to be the case. I honestly didn't expect it to go on anything else. I think some fans were expecting investment in the sqaud gotta say that was a bit naive....

Well said 👏 last time Morton were in the top flight Stock, Aitken & Waterman were dominating the charts & Inverness still had 3 teams 🤣

There are three revenue streams for clubs in Cup runs.

TV income, Prize money and especially Gate receipts.

Which for us all added up to a tidy sum.

You'll see in next years accounts where all the cup money went.  And you can pretty much guarantee it went to the directors who put money in.

Every club basically has one of two types of owners.  Those who put millions in, knowing they'll get no ROI, and write it off and play in the top league of the country they play in (Roy McGregor/Ross County) and those put millions in, knowing they'll get no ROI, and take it all back through prize money (Graham Rae and The ICT trust/The Caley) and sit mid/bottom half of the league or two leagues below as they can't sign decent players.

I just assumed Inverness were offering a significantly higher salary for their manager than Morton, who survive off a break even budget and so run a tighter ship.

Even we seem to be just about floating along thanks to lucrative cup draws. The financial outlook at this level is bleak if all these clubs stay full time IMO.

Been told there is meant to be an appointment later. Rumours seem to suggest we've moved away from the early front runners which is a relief. Of course that could be a load of puff. We really need to get this appointment right though. No time to waste and get our season turned round.
