WeAreElgin
Absolute shite. Jones wins the ball and the keeper has taken him out. Aye, he's taken a sore one but it doesn't change the fact it was a clear foul.

Aye, he's taken a sore one but it doesn't change the fact it was a clear foul. Doesn't matter whether Jones wins the ball, his foot is high and he catches the Keeper in the neck with his studs. Hence the high boot rule indicates a foul by Jones. Quote A high boot call results in a yellow card warning being issued. In some cases, if the boot is raised to head level or if the studs on the bottom of the boot are exposed, players can received a red card and be ejected from the game.
Neilly
Anyone who genuinely thinks the Jones one is a penalty just simply doesn't understand the game. It's a ridiculous decision but comes as no surprise due to how inept the officials are at this level. Christ, even Robert Jones himself is taking the piss out of the decision on Twitter. That tells you all you need to know.

cityloon
Good to get another result again first penalty is a hard one to call for the ref from what I seen and seen on the replay jones got to the ball first and knocked the ball on then keeper collides obviously the keeper thought he was getting there first and ended up colliding with jones due to his momentum in coming out for the ball but still probably classed as a penalty in the end and second penalty can’t say much about that it’s a clear penalty in the end

Obviously Jones doesn’t understand the rules as if he did he wouldn’t have apologised to the keeper after the game and admitted that he should have had a red. Not complaining about the result. Stranraer stopped playing after going ahead and in terms of effort Elgin deserved the win. Having now seen Elgin three times I think they have enough to bustle their way to safety. Briggsy's Ghost
If the keeper does arrive late and foul Jones there would be no contact.

1993
At the time I thought it was a harsh penalty and having seen the excellent Stranraer highlights package, Jones’ high boot should have been penalised regardless of whether he was then taken out by the keeper.

His boot is dangerously high and catches Bud on the follow through. You see on tv regularly goals disallowed for overhead kicks cause boot is in a dangerous area.
Briggsy's Ghost
If a defender clatters into the attacker trying an overhead kick in order be in an area that makes the foot dangerous I suspect it would be a penalty more often than a free kick for the defending team.
