BBC website previews

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this has been covered in the "Terrible Journalism" thread or not, but the BBC website has a preview page for upcoming fixtures in the Premiership.

Now, there will only ever be, by definition, a maximum of 6 games to cover. However, there never seems to be coverage of more than two or three. (As to which clubs' games are always covered, I'll leave you to try and figure out that perplexing conundrum...)

Surely it can't be outwith the BBC's budget to do at least a paragraph on each match? Just another example of the atrocious coverage that it appears the media thinks that we should be grateful to get, I presume.

Just one more of those little frustrating things that annoy me way more than it should.

Why not just stop reading what the BBC churn out if it annoys you? I don't think your quality of life will be impacted. Ultimately it's your only choice - to vote with your feet or not. There are alternatives to the BBC so if you keep visiting you must like it at least a little bit.

Many, probably most, of us already pay for the bbc. And we still will even if we don't read their football pages.

It's also very widely read and has a public interest purpose. It's entirely reasonable to consider fanbases of the diddy clubs (and fans of minority sports that are underrepresented) as being among the "diverse communities" that the BBC is supposed to "reflect, represent and serve".

I think it’s entirely legitimate for people to want the bbc to be better.

That's fine. I'm just saying there are plenty of alternatives available rather than wanting the BBC to be a better and getting frustrated or disappointed when it's not.

Often the BBC just retail information anyway so you can go direct to source or get the same information elsewhere, while the less said about their own original content probably the better, but if you want to continue down the route you're going down then it doesn't bother me.
