You do have to wonder about what the thieves were thinking they would do with Gary. It's a fairly conspicuous piece of kit and when the rozzers eventually come knocking at the door to enquire how you might have come by it I doubt the 'I got it off some chap down The Barras' would quite wash. And then there's the risks involved in getting it back to the layby to dump it. They're bound to have been on someone's dashcam.

No, but once, after playing basketball in Lochgilphead on a Friday night and then having a good few scoops in a local pub, we thought it was really funny to nick a ~6ft pot plant on leaving.

By the time we stopped for our 1st pish stop on the drive home to Dumbarton, we thought it much less funny, so turfed it into a field.

That particular plant might have been a treasured family heirloom. Did you ever consider that?
