Your former players XI

Recommended Posts

Make a team of folk who played for you!

However said players must still be active and must currently play in the SPFL and, of course, can't currently play for your team.

Despite starting this thread I'm actually struggling a bit for us in some positions! Would have had Allan McGregor in goal but he retired last year.

Going for a 4-4-2 here:

Goalie: Harry Sharp*

Defence:  Kerr McInroy - Calum Fordyce - Euan Murray - Lewis Mayo

Midfield: Dom Thomas - Nat Wedderburn - Rhys McCabe - Steven Lawless

Strikers: Bruce Anderson - Lawrence Shankland

Almost certainly forgetting loads of players here. Also have quite a few players out of position but in a 'generally' similar role.

*Only goalie I could think of. He might be decent but he was terrible for us.

Aye that team would be class in the Championship!

CB: Declan Gallagher

CB: Charles Dunne

LB: Ricki Lamie

CM: Mark O'Hara

CM: Liam Grimshaw

CM: Liam Polworth

ST: Kevin Van Veen

ST: Louis Moult

ST: Tony Watt

That was a tough pick and involved picking a lot of players I don't look back on fondly 😂 the team definitely should have Mandron at the expense of Van Veen or Moult given one has scored goals in the championship this season and the other hasn't kicked his own arse, but couldn't bring myself to do it.

A real mixed bag with Calum fucking Waters being a proper low point.

If it was active players not in Scottish football, we'd be challenging for the league though the defence isn't amazing.

About as balanced a team as I could muster. Give it the Plumber until the end of the season.

We would have an extremely good team if we were allowed guys playing in other countries, but instead it has several Championship players and only one playing at a club above us in the league.

Hemming

O'Donnell Broadfoot Murray Taylor

Frizzell O'Hara Kiltie

Mackay Brophy Muirhead

We could have had guys like Daniel Bachmann, Sean Longstaff and Kristoffer Ajer who might have improved things somewhat compared to what's there.

Pretty similar to @crazylegsjoe_mfc's team. The midfield would have looked a lot better in January when Turnbull was still at Celtic. As it is we'll have to make do with some jobbers from St Mirren and Killie. Donnelly gets the nod over Grimshaw as I think Grimmy's a better RB than he is a midfielder and Donnelly had a 3rd placed finish with us and is currently in a Killie side that's sat 4th.

The forwards are the most obvious picks going tbf.

I think you've missed the point of the thread quite spectacularly.

Scott Bain

Joe Shaughnessy - Declan Gallagher - Liam Scales - Mason Hancock

Ryan Jack

Matty Kennedy - Greg Stewart - Scott Wright

Lawrence Shankland - Marley Watkins

We can essentially try to outscore the other teams we come up against, with Jack having to take on a lot of work in an unconventional 4-1-3-2 in front of an at-best serviceable back four. Shaughnessy played right-back for us under Brown and McInnes, admittedly without too much success, but he has improved since leaving and can focus on defending in this set-up. Really, just get the ball to the front five as quickly as possible and hope for goals.
