Raith Rovers 🔵⚪️ [3] Vs [3] Partick Thistle 🔴🟡 [Rovers progress on penalties]

Recommended Posts

Tremendous couple of matches, throughly enjoyed them both. Nip and tuck, actually felt it was a matter of time before Thistle scored again tonight but thankfully BBC Scotland's favourite Partick Thistle striker is still a bottler.

Over both ties, Scott Brown has been a colossus with his only error being his penalty. A true leading by example pair of displays.

I think Raith may struggle against Ross County's forward players but I'd imagine they would take St Johnstone. Nothing against St Johnstone fans, the vast majority on here are sound, but Craig Levein being relegated would be delightful.

Genuinely feel a bit for Partick, they played to their strengths well all game. Penalties are not a fun way to lose.

Says a lot about the young players opting to take the first and fifth penalties as well. More so that the first player to console Diack was Stanway.

Congratulations to Rovers. Hard lines for Thistle, finished the tie very strongly.

4 cracking end to end matches in the play offs so far with both teams going for it in every match...

next up (probably) St Johnstone.

At this moment Morton Ayr and Falkirk away sound more exciting than Motherwell away for 100th time in recent years.

That said if results go our way on Sunday I'll likely be doing more that polite clapping at full time

Fair enough. If I wasn't a 'Well fan I'd probably agree with you.

On the game. Thought thistle where the better team and deserved the ft result. First time they've actually beaten us in the 90 this season. Ref was shite. All that matters is that we're through though and are potentially two games away from the top flight.

Gutted, especially for young Diack. Hope the lads get round him and it spurs him on.

Congratulations to Rovers. Good luck in the final, hope you go all the way.

Thought Thistle were very good tonight and unlucky - penalties are always a lottery. While not a game of free flowing football it was proper both teams going for it and wonderful viewing entertainment. Not a fan of pitch invasions and hope it doesn't come back and bite our arse in the final.

I didn't think any game could be as traumatic as our Dingwall meltdown but that came pretty close. We haven't been outstanding this season but we really should have won that.

Good luck to Raith - their fans have been decent on here and credit to Murray who went straight over to Diack at the end. Despite what we have gone through, play-offs are far more enjoyable than games against the Old Firm.

Apparently this was Greenock's best result of the season.

The actor playing reebus is horrific.

He's no John Hannah, but imo is by no means the worst.

It looked as if Ian Murray went and had a word with the lad Diack before celebrating with his team. Touch of class if so.

Probably asking him when his contract was up 😉😂😂

Diack should never have been put under that kind of pressure. Poor management.

Why? It's not a one-off penalty in the last minute where he's been needlessly pushed into that position. It was the 5th in a shoot-out and if someone else had taken the penalty and scored he would have been needed for the next one anyway, or the one after that, and the pressure would mount for each one. Fitzpatrick seems the only viable alternative for that penalty, but like I say if he scores you're then onto someone else anyway which leaves Diack and a bunch of defenders, 2 of which are also pretty young and one who missed a decisive penalty in a play-off last season.

Brian Graham scoring his penalty and celebrating with his arms outstretched in front of the home support with Thistle leading the shout-out, only for the next two jags to miss the target and it all to end in tears.

Celebrating scoring in a shoot-out like it's an actual goal in normal time was fully deserving of what happened straight after.
