Tory party chairman Richard Holden with today’s gaffe of the day.

It’s not hyperbole to say that the campaign so far for the Tories has been an unmitigated disaster.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s largely to do with the fact that Sunak sprung this on them and their ability to have the usual poor, but nonetheless organised and coordinated, talking heads approach has been totally thwarted by the lack of preparation.

I never thought Teresa May's 2017 campaign could be beaten in the shitness stakes. But here we are.

This D-Day thing really isn't dying down, is it?

It's just a pity Truss never got a shot at this.

If having William Wragg as our MP wasn't bad enough Oliver Johnstone was our Councillor for a few years, he was also agent for WW at the last election.

Pair of wronguns.

The constituency he is standing at is a safe Labour seat anyway.

I'm going to guess that we're all the real racists for inferring that he was talking about his Labour opponent Bayo Alaba when he's just been having difficulty with a coconut left on his chimney stack by a pair of African swallows.

Seems like Alaba was recently attacked by the Tories for attending the D-Day commemorations, taking part in a (presumably planned before the election announcement) fundraising parachute jump with former servicemen, instead of staying in Southend to campaign. I take it the Tories have all been left to deal with campaigning and the press by themselves and are being thoroughly fund oot without the professionals to make them look less useless and dickish.

Are folk seriously suggesting that Ross should fly Reykjavik to Aberdeen, Aberdeen to Heathrow just so that the correct organisation is covering the correct expenses?

I suppose the totally above board way to do it is to calculate the saving on flying directly with UEFA and the tax payer splitting the discount. But really this is a non issue.

It's that or you sit down and properly document the journey with approriate receipts and a full itineray.

We do stuff like this in the workplace all the time when billing to separate clients.

"Hitler wasn't all bad" seems to be a surprisingly popular opinion among the poppy-worshipping descendants of the people who actually fought WWII. It seems that their main complaint with him was that he dared to fight BRITTAN, not the genocide, invasions, or tight leather shorts.

Of course, when it suits, he's also a dirty socialist. Everything to all men.
