Group C fixtures along with UK kick off times and channels:

Sunday 16th June - 5.00pm - Slovenia vs Denmark - ITV
Sunday 16th June - 8.00pm - Serbia vs England - BBC1
Thursday 20th June - 2.00pm - Slovenia vs Serbia - ITV
Thursday 20th June - 5.00pm - Denmark vs England - BBC1
Tuesday 25th June - 8.00pm - Denmark vs Serbia - ITV4
Tuesday 25th June - 8.00pm - England vs Slovenia - ITV

You'd expect England to win this comfortably, I don't think Denmark are quite as good as they were. I'm no expert on Serbia or Slovenia but think it could be pretty open for the runner up spot in the group. I'll be in Germany for Denmark vs England, imagine the locals might be cheering on the Danes!

I'd like there to be a bump in the road for England, but can't really see it.  I expect the Serbia game will probably be one of those typically stodgy tournament games for them where they look unconvincing but win anyway.  They'll probably look pretty good against Denmark and secure qualification.

But hopefully that stodge turns into Serbia getting something from them, then Denmark f**k the bacon out of them in the 2nd game leaving them needing a result against a Slovenia side who just refuse to leave their own box.  Finishes 0-0, only a single point, and a 105th minute goal in the final group game before 3rd place is sorted leaves them a goal short.

That'd be funny.

Denmark's game against Slovenia shouldn't be as rowdy as Serbia's, which in my head means winning by the same margin but more controlled, lower scoring. That leaves them in a shootout for 2nd in the 3rd match. You'd love to see group stage pens but I reckon goals scored will take serbia through. Danes through in 3rd on 4 points.

England's squad for Euro 2024

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal).

Defenders: Lewis Dunk (Brighton), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Kyle Walker (Manchester City).

Midfielders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace).

Forwards: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ivan Toney (Brentford), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).

Defensively they're in bother. No fit left back.

Konsa, Dunk and Guéhi have 19 caps between them. Stones has been injured a lot this season. Only started 12 EPL matches this season.

Their central midfield is absolutely horrendous. Wharton has only played have a season in the EPL and this is Mainoo's first season. Three caps between them.

Four Crystal Palace players and they have "The best squad at the Euros".

Right.

Let the games begin!

Their forward options are frightening but goalkeeper to midfield is nothing special at all.

Reckon most of Europe's top sides would fancy their chances against that back line. Out in the quarters or semi's depending on how the groups finish up.

That's where people are fooled.

In club football those players have Haaland, Rodri, De Bruyne, Musiala, Sane, Kroose, Vinicius Jnr, Camavinga, etc, that make them look good.

It wasn't that long ago that England toiled to a draw against North Macedonia thanks to an OG as well a weak 2-0 win vs Malta, again, with the help of another OG.

If Kane dropped out, they'd struggle to make it out of their group as he makes their goals and scores their goals.

People claim that they outplayed Scotland. They had 2 shots on target in 60 minutes.

Don't believe the hype.

I see the Nigel’s are hyping up Adam Wharton as the new Toni Kroos after about 10 good games for Crystal Palace. No doubt he will go on to have a very good career but according to the twitter experts he’s apparently already better than all of our midfielders except McGinn, despite them all being vastly more experienced than him at a similar level. Did they not say similar things about Kalvin Phillips a few years ago?

This could have ended 0-7.

It just adds credence to the saying "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

It's baffling just how many  people believe that England (who have only won one trophy in their entire existence) are a football heavyweight. Even a fair amount of Scotland fans believe it, bizarrely enough.

Hype, propaganda and the force only work on weak minds. There's a lot of weak minds around in 2024.

A while ago I counted Euros and Copa Americas (the two continents with WC winners/finalists)  - bearing in mind the latter has had 47 stagings to 16 Euros, has fewer countries, and started much earlier - so for comparison's sake maybe 3 CAs to a Euro win. Obviously if WC wins are heavily weighted then England's sole win puts them =7th with Spain (with 1 major win to Spain's 4). There is no comprehensive way to order this table but there is a clear Top 7 and I would argue that the Czechs have been a bigger force in world football than England. England have also hosted 3 major finals and yet have won the same number of trophies as Denmark or Greece. Yours, McGlashan 😉

Good job!

However, I must demand that you include our Kirin cup win.

We were so good that Japan didn't invite us to defend our trophy!

Never won the Kirin Cup though have they?

Even Tottenham Hotspur have won it and England still haven't.  Gotta sting that.

Apparently Southgate is going to start the tournament with a double pivot of Rice and Trent.

It underlines England's lack of options in central midfield. Southgate is one injury from calling up Sean Longstaff.

It's either pick Trent or go with Mainoo or Wharton (who have played 40 EPL matches between them)

Hasn't stopped every BBC English pundit predicting they'll win it because they have "the best front six in the world" they possibly do but their goalkeeper, defence and midfield are rotten
