East Fife entertain Morton tomorrow in a first competitive outing of the season for both teams.

This should be a good test for the Fifers' but we shouldn't read too much into one game on how we think the League season will progress.

It looks unlikely that we will add to the squad before the match.

I would go with :

                                  McFarlane

          Murdoch      Munro     Easton    Peggie

                                Millar        Norey

                 Healy           Trouten          Newton

                                        Austin

I think EF will make it very difficult for Morton tomorrow and wouldn't be surprised if they get something out of the game. On the other hand, I think we'll give St Johnstone a good run for their money the following week.

I can see this being 8-9 points to win the group and the runner up getting papped out.

Hoping to go to the East Fife - Brechin game on the Tuesday night.

Where's the best bet(s) for a half decent pint before the game? Anywhere near the ground at all?

Thanks in advance!

2 bars in the ground.

Aside from winning it 2021, this is not a competition that St Johnstone have a good relationship with when it comes to the group stages.

We've failed to progress from our section in the three other seasons since 2019.

Beaten by Montrose, Ross County and Forfar in the season disrupted by the pandemic, by Annan and Queen of the South a couple of years ago (and the bizarre situation where we sat on a 1-goal cushion against Ayr when another goal would have taken us through), then by Stenhousemuir, Ayr and Stirling last term.

Losing to non-league opposition would be a new nadir though.

The change of ownership ironically probably buys Levein and Kirk some time when a few weeks ago you felt they had to get this right.

Surely we won't be subjected to a back three today...

We played with a back 3 and only one forward in a pre season friendly so think we can safely say that’s exactly what we’ll see today.

Can largely be attributed to the shambolic nature of our recruitment strategy. I fear we’ll struggle again, particularly against Morton.

I'm expecting us to do something stupid today, overthinking it as always.

Rae

Wright - Olufunwa - McClelland - Cameron - Keltjens

M. Smith - Carey - Kucheriavyi

Kimpioka - May

... and then wonder why it's easy for teams to stunt our attack and counter us.

Should clarify a back three shouldn't always be off the cards but unless you have at least one bombing forward whenever you win possession, then playing three centre backs against a team you are going to need to try to break down is pure idiot football.

It, of course, might not stop us winning or even winning well against non-league opposition but it doesn't bode well moving forward IMO.

Rae

Wright - McClelland - Cameron - Keltjens

Steven - MacPherson - Sprangler - Carey

May

Sidibeh

May can pull left and Carey tuck if required and that would be fluid as the players are comfortable in those areas.

Are St Johnstone really going with Rae as their no. 1 this season?
