ArabFC
Porteous has certainly earned his place in the team with his performances since he came into the team. He has, however, always been and always will be a.liability with the way he plays.

His move south seemed to improve his play Anyway unimportant The pressure we were under got too much IMHO and that was not his fault !
Brian Graham’s Lovely Hair
I’ve missed Porto’s radge tackles since he left Hibs. Nice to see he hasn’t screwed the nut in any way.
Coooombe
The game was over by the time he was sent off. There's no point in making him a scapegoat.
afc_blockhead
Awful tackle by a poor player always keen to make a stupid tackle!

That doesn’t make it remotely ok. We could have gotten out of there with a 0-2 or maybe even a 1-2 and limited the goal difference advantage. Instead he decided to be a complete thug and try to end Gundogan’s career, resulting in a completely deserved red card and us conceding 3 more goals. He’s let the country down and should be excluded from selection for a while imo. Edited June 14 by JS_FFC -

Red card means automatic one game ban......... unless UEFA decides that the offence merits a longer ban. No appeals allowed.

He's not gone out to hurt anyone never mind end a career. Did you watch the game until that point? I'd have bitten your hand off for a 4 goal defeat when they were 2 up. There's no way we were closing that gap, even with 11 on the pitch. Did we even touch the ball in their box?
HuttonDressedAsLahm
It was a terrible challenge, but it was an attempt to block a shot. Quite different from the same tackle in a completely different part of the pitch. Players need to cut those challenges out of their game completely - it simply isn’t acceptable - but no need to write his obituary.
2426255
Porteous can be reckless. He's always been like that through qualifying, sometimes it comes off, but it went against him tonight. At the end of the day it just comes down to quality of player. We have good players, some really good ones but we're nowhere near Germany and in order to compete with them we have to be near 100%. With the amount of play they had around and inside our 18 yard box it's just a numbers game before this kind of thing happens. If it wasn't Porteous it would have been Hendry or Hanley or Ralston. They'd had another penalty cancelled before that by VAR. It's always just a matter of time when you have people diving in while defending inside the box. Butters Scotch
Not only that, his passing was atrocious tonight. Some people on here saying that was one of his strengths too. Reality check needed all around, the guy is not good enough to be playing for us as a starter.
lesheep
Shit player. Always been a liability. I find it ludicrous that someone thought it was a good idea to start him in this game.

There are reasons why he was considered good enough to start such as his performances in qualifying. I don't have a great love for him as a player, but he's as good as our other options there.
