vikingTON
Richard Leonard believes that the seven MPs who abandoned the mumbleclown now face a spell in the political wilderness. And he'd certainly know how that feels as leader of the branch office.
Highlandmagyar 2nd Tier
Jesus! I personally cannot stand the left wing headbangers or Corbyn, but these folk are well rid of. I consider myself in the centre of the party, but at least the left wingers stayed loyal and kept their mouths shut during the Blair years. Utter scumbags. Hopefully they get utterly rinsed at the next GE.
welshbairn
No idea what to make of this. If you had to choose the worst set of MP's to start a rebellion, this was probably it. https://twitter.com/PolhomeEditor/status/1097558130844667910
Granny Danger
Umunna seems to think that the PLP should listen to Labour Party members on Brexit. At the same time he thinks the PLP should ignore the wishes of the Labour Party on who should be Party leader. It seems a bit contradictory.

Until Jeremy Corbyn was made leader, I had no idea there was a Labour Party and a Parliamentary Labour Party. However many years later I'm still not sure of the point, or the system. The Labour Party wants this guy to lead us! But the Parliamentary Labour Party say he he's shit. We'll say again, the Labour Party want this guy to lead us! But the Parliamentary Labour Party (the Labour Party people that are in Parliament?) think he's shit. It's like trying to make your legs walk in different directions at the same time.

It's like trying to make your legs walk in different directions at the same time. I was a member of the Labour Party for 20 years. It is amazing the amount of people who become Labour MPs and think they can then dictate to the local party who selected them and got them elected. It is also amazing the number of them who quickly lose focus about what they were elected for. It is beyond amazing the number of Labour MPs who don’t have a socialist bone in their bodies. Umunna is simply in the mould of Blair though he will never now get anywhere in politics.

Falcor Roar
Am I right in thinking that there will not be a by-election for these 7 seats? How is that fair? People voted for the Labour party in those areas.

welshbairn
Labour in power were always centrist. Atlee, Wilson, Callaghan, Blair. Atlee was probably the most left wing of them all.
Fullerene
If the UK elections were not based on a corrupt electoral system this would be something of a non-event. These MPs would have felt no need to be in the Labour party in the first place. At the next election, some voters will vote for the sitting MP, some will vote Labour ("always been Labour") and it is possible the Tory will win the seat. I can fully understand the appeal of Jeremy Corbyn and his vision of a better future. However I can also understand those who feel frustrated by his handling of .. virtually anything. Not sure this group has a long term future but I can understand why they did it.

They would still need to be in a political party and one that would get them into Parliament.

I reside in Liverpool and close to her Wavertree constituency and like Granny said, she’s out of touch with the people who put her there. Also, she’s anti Corbyn in an area where Corbyn is the Messiah. She should have toed the line. All 7 should be made to face by elections but they care about their 70 grand a year too much.
